hamster Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 For those of us of a certain age... PHWOAR!!!! At every single point of her carreer I have fancied the knickers off of her. Not exactly under-rated, but perhaps under-appreciated?

St Landrew Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Oh come on peeps, you wouldn't kick her out, especially if she sung you a song for your efforts.

He started it.:smt022 Anyway, she was on TV last night and as I just thought I'd seek out any other Alf fans. She was big around the time of another of my favourite singers Paul Young, O think there was a year when they won best female and male singer respectfully. Alf is a truly iconic album for me and Yazoo imho were responsible for really bringing a certain genre to the fore. 'Upstairs at Eric's' is a great album title too although only contains one decent track. I'm off to Spotify some Alf now, anyone care to join me in a litle Love Resurrection? I've a very limited Steely Dan collection, but have been playing it for the last 20 minutes. Brilliant stuff, which I'm going to fill in with a bit of Spotify. harvey Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 The single 'Ode to Boy' from 1994 is well worth a listen.
hamster Posted 10 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Re. yazoo, I wish to correct myself after having my memory jogged by Spotify's library; there are 2 decent tracks on their first album which was followed by an even less impressive effort that contained ony 1 decent track - Nobody's Diary. I would add that Moyet's voice is awesome on every track that Vince and she made though imo. Vince Clark is quite a clever bloke though having said all that about hi Yazoo time. St Landrew Posted 10 November, 2009 Share Posted 10 November, 2009 Re: hamster's hint of mozying off to Spotify. So did I, but my Steely Dan adventure lasted 5 tracks. Don't ask me how but I ended up playing 1000 Umbrellas by XTC. No apologies - superb.

hamster Posted 11 November, 2009 Author Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Not a patch on Jamelia. I would fight any man to defend Alison Moyet's honour. Britain's first lady of jazz, soul, schmooze evn new wave and electro. She has done it all. Alison Moyet, two words: Only You
