TijuanaTim Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Thanks in large part to many of you, the Big fella is doing famously now. A 180 degree turn around from a month or so ago. It is really rewarding to see. Starting to do some art again has been a huge shot in the arm and you guys sharing good spirits and care with him has helped visibly lift him. For the first time in years he is actually considering a return to Southampton, due totally to the invitations made to him by Saints fans. This is real progress. He cracked me up the other day (as he often does). He mentioned watching the sailor boys game where they beat Liverpool 2-0, it was televised nationally here on ESPN. His whole synopsis on the match was as follows, I quote "I can see why pompee are in so much trouble." Followed up by "Liverpool are shocking!" I guess it might not 'read' as well as it sounded, but believe me, coming from Ron - the way he said it was hilarious!! Not trying to belabour this, but if you have not heard this excellent interview with Ron I recommend it, you can clearly hear how much more upbeat he is. http://www.epltalk.com/ron-davies-interview-epl-talk-podcast/13835 Have a Cool Yule everyone!! LA77 Posted 23 December, 2009 Share Posted 23 December, 2009 Thanks for the updates. He was my old mans favourite player and "the best header of the ball" you'd ever see. Toomer Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Would love him to come over and be a guest of our owner at a game, if they could put together a selection of his goals to be shown on the big screen that would let the youngsters see what us old uns bang on about. What a wonderful occasion that would be ! The "Big Fella" would have a welcome and ovation that would befit any returning hero - I reckon that would set him up emotionally for years to come. If you are reading Ron a very Merry Christmas!

Fitzhugh Fella Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Enjoyed the interview Tim, liked the bit about his first day at Chester and the sandwiches that went missing. It was also interesting that his heading ability only came to the fore after arriving at The Dell, he suggests that without Paine and Sydenham he may never have become the player he did.
