notjon Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Is there somewhere most fans head for? trouble with London as opposed to Cardiff is that it all dissipates as different groups go to different parts of town. It`d be great to try and keep as many as possible vaguely together after the win........... So Leicester Square it is then.

I really don't want to be queueing up for a pint with 50,000 others... for that reason, I'll be off to a certain special pub in Vauxhall.

JRM Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Baker Street is good. Big wetherspoons next to station, The Globe over the road, Allsop arms round the corner. 5 mins on met line to Wembley from there to maximise pub time.

Badvoc Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Plenty of cracking pubs in town and many run by Sam Smith's brewery. The booze at these is OK and the prices are at about £1.90 for a pint of Pure Brew Lager. Same sort of prices for ales. Get into one of those and you'll get your money's worth in some fantastic Victorian establishments...

The Godfather Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Normally the old bill allocate pubs near wembley to the clubs, thats the norm for the FA Cup final now.
Right sider Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 For the Fa Trophy a couple of years ago, the Wembley sports and social club was hired out for the day. Tickets were about a fiver to cover cost, and beer was £2 a pint. Used it as a venue before and after the game. About 5 minute walk to ground. There's a few Sam Smiths around where I work - the local one "The Blue Posts" is cheap but the beer is sh!ite in my opinion - some of the others may be better though! Was that the place just up from the tube station across the road from the torch? if so its been knocked down and is now being turned into a school. The torch isnt a bad boozer - plenty of space with the garden and seating outside and probably the closest 'big' pub to the stadium.
Badvoc Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Mate, try the **** on Gt Portland St; beer always Ok in there, although I take your point about the quality. Mate of mine refuses to drink Sam Smith's but TBH I think it's OK for what it is.

Sour Mash Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 Got to bear in mind it'll probably be a 1.30pm k.o. on a Sunday. There are a fair few pubs around Wembley which obviously have the advantage of being able to drink up to close to kick off, lots of places between Wembley Central station and the ground including a big Wetherspoons, couple of pubs near to Wembley Park Station including the Torch, none of them great but serve the purpose. The other obvious choice is Baker Street. Got the Globe, Allsop Arms, a big Wetherspoons. 15/20 mins on the tube from there. And there is a big Wetherspoons by Finchley Road tube station (the next one on from Baker Street), but thats part of a big indoor shopping complex, so maybe not the best place for a pre-football pint. Although many on here love to slag off Wetherspoons, it might be worth pointing out that they open at 9am on a sunday (think the Baker Street one is at 10am), so will certainly come in handy on the 28th of March! Also what you get plenty of is people just getting aload of cans and drinking along Wembley Way/ around the ground, cheap and easy to time getting into the ground. saint lard Posted 10 February, 2010 Share Posted 10 February, 2010 The 'Punch and Judy' in Covent Garden. Waxy O'connors just off Liecester Sq or the Weatherspoons nearby right next to the Odeon in the Square.
