rocknrollman no2 Posted 8 July, 2010 Share Posted 8 July, 2010 My wife and i were given a tour of St Marys today as part of a present and although i had been around the stadium before,i was surprised by how many things are changing. The home team changing rooms have been totally up graded with leather seats and above each shirt, there is a personal safe(BWPs beware). They are taking out all of the seats that spell Flybe and seem to be putting some white seats around the stadium making a striped effect. Was told that the beers not changing for another year because of a contract issue, but the food will be different. There were also a lot of painters around spurcing the place up. Not a lot to report, but at least its not a moan!

charlie saint Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 I was at the Charlton Game with a Charlton supporting mate, who said our beer was actually very good (compared to what they serve at The Valley). Well, what he actually said was "They don't water it down here", but still - faint praise is still praise. Just saying.
SaintDonkey Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 Oh dear lord, the beer isn't changing. ST refunds galore... I always think Saints' fans get needlessly wound up (and obsessive) on the beer issue. Saint Mary's is a sporting venue used once a fortnight - you're hardly going to be able to get decent cask ales in there which pretty much restricts you to lager and pressurized keg bitter - and frankly I'd rather drink lager than that muck, one brand is pretty much like another. A better lager than Carlsberg would be nice but frankly it all tastes like **** to me. Guinness would be a nice and practical addition.
Hatch Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 How long does a tour take? i can't imagine it taking longer than 30 mins.
dronskisaint Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 Blokes moan about beer - it's not the club, it's not personal - it's just a fact of life like women going shopping! I like Carlsberg...Guinness? The Oirish deserve it...it's watered down tarmac blended with bog water!
ecuk268 Posted 9 July, 2010 Share Posted 9 July, 2010 How long does a tour take? i can't imagine it taking longer than 30 mins. About 90 minutes. Herbie has plenty of anecdotes and really knows his Saints history. When I took Mrs ecuk268, I let Herbie know that it was her birthday and he produced a signed Saints birthday card. She's not particularly into footy but really enjoyed the tour. Even if you go to all the Saints games and think you know the stadium, it's still worth doing. You even get to sit in the cells (although some on here may have done that already).
