Empty Seats again

While I do not want to annoy the Chapel ST holders who have had their seats for years is it not time to rethink the seating situation.

Last night the Chapel looked nearly empty - could we not ask them to move into the Itchen or Kingsland and fill the corner at the Northam Kingsland end with the Juniors?

Ok I understand the need for segregation between the fans but the Chapel stewards would then not be needed just a few extra ball boys in row ZZ to retrieve BWP crosses and shots ;-) in that end?

The atmosphere would be greatly improved and again pen in the away support from 3 parts.

Apologies again for regular Chapel goers but last night looked awful in that end.

Of course the real issue is the stay aways who are doing the players a disservice as its the team that matters not Lowe/Wilde/Crouch at the moment.

Its no good saying administration is the answer as what would stop Rupert and pals then buying it up cheaper there is no guarantee he would be gone.

Why would Lowe want to go he is doing a good job.

We could get somebody else in who is acceptable to the fans like Hone/Wilde and find out they are not up to the job and nearly bankrupt the club.

I've said this before - I don't understand how we're saving money by closing the corners.

We have the same amount of bars/diners open, we need the same amount of medical staff by law anyway, and IMO we have even more stewards than we have done for several years.

So yes GITR, I think we would be better off closing the chapel - we wouldnt' need stewards or catering staff for that end then.

Isnt that because we have less police now? therfore cheaper?

So, you have a thought, decide to post it, and because of your obvious fear of rejection from your peers, you pin this paragraph on the end so that you can rally support from at least some of this board!

Why do it? If you have a thought, then post it, don't put the political spin on it when there is absolutely no need.

I'm guessing that in your reply, you;ll find a way of raising it yet again, so, to save you time, I won't be posting on this 'Political' thread again, your spin is far too obvious for me.

You give me far too much credit...I have no political agenda - all I want is to see the stadium full of fans supporting these young kids who are trying their hardest.

I am just a fan of some 40 odd years who is in despair at how far we have fallen in such a short time and will continue to fall until we are out of the financial mire.

I have no agenda and hate the way that Lowe/Wilde/Crouch/Paul Allen/LLS/Cherrypip have treated the fans of this club but its the team I support not a boardroom full of ego maniacs.

If you had gone last night you would of seen why I posted what I did that the sight of the ground half full is soul destroying - so well done if you are a stay away your absence is having an affect whether its doing you any good apart from making you bitter and resentful?

Or why not close the Kingsland as well as from where I was sat in the Chapel (ST Holder) that looked pretty empty as well.

Yep probably if the numbers continue as they are then we may be forced to close 2 stands and push everyone into the remaining 2 from a financial point if not a fans one.

Looking at the crowd last night I was surprised to see it at 14k looked a lot less than that and could certainly of put them all in 2 stands plus corners.

I think the "Empty Seat" situation is easy to explain

It boils down to the word "Success"

When we were in the Prem, we had a Team, that, on it's day, could beat whoever the opposition was. The attendances reflected that, ie 28K +

After Relegation, we still had high hopes of a swift return to the Prem, but, due to a host of reasons, this was not achieved. Over that period of time to the present day, the "support" has eroded, because, in reality, we have NOT had a Team worthy of the name, to do justice to the name Southampton

The current situation is, IMHO, that there are signs that a TEAM is being forged together, that CAN do us proud in the CCC

If, and it's a big If, we get a result at Coventry, then the cynics will start to come back

Typical example of how "frail" the potential support is ....Blackpool at Home ... lost 0-1, att 15629, after getting results v Derby and Birmingham. They "flattered to deceive", so to speak, and some supporters said "****" it, I'll not bother

Success breeds Success. If Saints can string some wins together, and show that they can be a force to be reckoned with, attendances WILL increase

I was talking to a steward a couple of weeks ago and he said there was no way they would shut the whole of the Kingsland because of the Dell bar (or whatever it's called now).
