krissyboy31 Posted 3 October, 2010 Share Posted 3 October, 2010 Great news for Ryan and Saints but it says something about Wales when they have to call up a youngster, who is not even a first teamer at a third division club.

Or it must say something about a youngster progressing well enough to be called up to his nations squad for a Euro2012 qualifier Well done Ryan

Professor Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 With Barnard in trouble, it would make sense to give him time on the pitch in the first team, even a start if Connolly is still not fit.
oxfordshire_saint Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 Anyone know what his scoring record in the youth/reserves is like?

The9 Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 Great news for Ryan and Saints but it says something about Wales when they have to call up a youngster, who is not even a first teamer at a third division club. Wales have been doing this kind of thing forever, especially when Cardiff and Swansea were in the bottom 2 divisions. What's more telling relatively speaking is that Lloyd James has NEVER played for the full Welsh side despite having 3 seasons' experience in the CCC and League 1. The pool of welsh football talent at full and U-21 level is a little deeper now Cardiff and Swansea are in the npC. FWIW I've only seen Doble play once, at Eastleigh in 2009, and he looked like the best player on the pitch for big chunks of his second half performance, strong, lively, skilful and creative - and playing in attacking midfield. I'm surprised he hasn't played for Saints yet, but judging by Adkins' results with Puncheon's quick-release passing on Saturday he's in good hands. Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 4 October, 2010 Share Posted 4 October, 2010 Wouldn't it be funny if he scored the winner against England before he'd even played for Saints, when we play Wales in our Euro qualifier? Actually, perhaps not.
