Katalinic Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 Sorry if this has been covered but notice we have had a new GK coach for the past few games - it looks like Jim Stannard, can anyone confirm?

Pedro Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 Vince Bartram I think, scanned the OS and it is hidden somewhere in the staff list.
moon monkey Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 He was the GK coach for Palace but got made redundant when they had their problems. Has worked part time for Gillingham since. I guess he is someone Adkins knows.

SuperMikey Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 I'm not sure we have a senior GK coach at the moment - think Bartram has been taking training sessions.
Pedro Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 Shame the club don't communicate with us supporters, obviously underestimate our interest. Surely anything to do with the first team at least should be "announced"
moon monkey Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 It is a GK coach, its not that interesting. Why stop there? Why not announce the new staplewood canteen cleaner?

patred44 Posted 26 October, 2010 Share Posted 26 October, 2010 (edited) He wasn't a real goalkeeping coach HE WAS A COACH WHO TOOK ON RESPONSIBILITY FOR GOALKEEPERS, ON A PART TIME BASIS..and towards the end of his time he did nothing with the keepers. Adkins, being an ex keeper most likely realised that was not good enough Edited 26 October, 2010 by patred44

Adkins, being an ex keeper most likely realised that was not good enough Pat, as far as I know Vince Bartram is effectively the academy GK coach but appears to have been seconded to first team duties following Murdoch's release. Kevin Pressman was Nigel Adkins GK coach at Scunny and was rumoured as being seen at SMS just before NA's appointment. However, no sign of KP yet being signed up by us. As you say Adkins is a former keeper and will presumably want a full time appointment in that role but no idea who or when this may be. Perhaps they will stick with Bartram for the time being? Pat, in your experience of keepers how would you rate Pressman as a potential GK coach? Just interested in your opinion in case he does end up here. As far as I can remember he was a pretty good keeper for Sheff Wed for a good many years.

As far as I can remember he was a pretty good keeper for Sheff Wed for a good many years. he's as good as any. but I would prefer Jim Stannard as I think he will more beneficial to Kelvins wants.. Pressman is more of a disciplinarian, and he will take KD back to basics. I don't think that is what is wanted ATM.. and Bart has never responded to hard discipline. Stannard is more likely to put an arm round him, whilst Pressman would kick his ass. I think Adkins has looked at both keepers closely, and thought hard before making his choice of gk coach, that can only be good for our keepers. I really don't know what Keith is actually doing now. I heard he is still employed by the Kent FA, and still runs his goalkeeping school at Tonbridge.
