david in sweden Posted 12 November, 2010 Share Posted 12 November, 2010 (edited) for the match commentaries ! People ask me what the weather like in Sweden? So..do you mean in Stockholm...(today +3 deg C) and the recent snow has melted away ..or in the top third of the country which is above the Arctic Circle... and it's dark for six months of the year .(High Wind, heavy snow and -5 deg.C - as is today) I follow radio / text reports of games that sound disgraceful only to find out (for example) it snowed in Carlisle... and the pitch was almost waterlogged..a good excuse for poor football ...as is early season games in August when it's +25 deg C and everyone is sweating like the preverbial pig. How many of us can recall those wintry evening games against sides from the North East when it's blowing a gale off the North Sea and the rain is coming down vertically !..but the game still goes on. I'm not against criticising bad play when the elements play a bigger role than the teams.. ..then there is some excuse for poor play and bad results. So come along commentators..let's have some input on the weather conditions. Rain? Sunny?, Hail, minus(-) temps. ..it helps your perspective on the game when you can't actually SEE the match in progress...and maybe some explanation for bland football. Window Cleaner Posted 12 November, 2010 Share Posted 12 November, 2010 Weather reports during the match thread are only to be used in an emergency, like being a goal behind.Getting a goal in front is the reserve of a lucky smoke or some nuns knockers. ericofarabia Posted 12 November, 2010 Share Posted 12 November, 2010 The commentators do seem to be putting more weather info into their match commentary, I'm sure they have read about the magical effects our efforts have on games with weather reports coming in from all over the world at times of need during the match. Similarly Flash watson used to smuggle in the occassional woot into his commentary, but they now seem so last year as do the muffins. Anybody who doesn't come on here on match days will be scratching their heads at all this talk of weather, crafty smokes and god forbid nuns knockers!! You don't know what you are missing out on!! dubai_phil Posted 12 November, 2010 Share Posted 12 November, 2010 I'd love to be able to help out tomorrow, but our Race to Dubai event build up starts tomorrow evening with all the briefings and planning meetings. Which is REALLY annoying as I had a whole week's worth of Naughty Nun googling all ready to go. But yes, we should do like the Sky Cricket crew - get Whispering Dave out on the pitch with his car keys giving us the info - long stud or those things that keep busting knees, wind problems for the keepers are our hero uberfans in the dry? Now all it needs is someone in the UK who can TEXT to Solent to tell them 1) Connect The PROPER cable so we get OUR game 2) Give us a pitch & conditions update just after kickoff. Mind you if they can't throw a switch properly what hope of them describing the weather?
