miserableoldgit Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 I`m sorry if this has been picked up on elsewhere, but there seems to be a bit of a negative feeling on here regarding any new signings and the possible sale of AOC. Listening to the end of NA`s interview for the first time this morning, he said that "nobody will be leaving the building(!)" and that yes he was expecting some new bodies to come in, but everything will be done quietly behind the scenes. He indicated that transfer activity intensified as the window closes. On AOC he indicated that he would not be leaving the club until possibly "someway down the line" as he is our player and we are developing and nurturing him, and that he would not be subject to any auction. I thought on the whole it was a positive interview.
JackFrost Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 I wonder whether Cortese will only sell AOC in January on the condition he is loaned back to us for the rest of the season

Shroppie Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 I may be a wild optimist but I don't think he's leaving any time soon. Everything has been whipped up by press speculation to sell papers to Prem supporters with very little basis in fact.
Fan The Flames Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 Eddie Howe said he wasn't leaving Bournmouth on the Wednesdayand was gone on the Thursday, Harry R said to the Pompey fan that he wouldn't go down the road he ends up down the road. Don't believe everything a manager says we don't know what's going on behind closed doors. I don't think he is going this window but then again I know **** all. Matthew Le God Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 Eddie Howe said he wasn't leaving Bournmouth on the Wednesday and was gone on the Thursday How is that relevant? Eddie Howe said he wasn't going to Charlton or Crystal Palace, not that he wouldn't leave. The day after, Burnley approached him and he accepted. Matthew Le God Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 ManU may offer £25m deal for AOC the day after this interview There is a difference... Howe said he wasn't going to club X or Y, that doesn't rule out club Z signing him to be manager days later. Cortese and Adkins both said Chamberlain won't be sold in January and that rules out any move to any club.

That would be true only if you think Adkins did not enjoy the full support of the Board. Clearly he enjoys unequivocal support so his word is the word of the Board. Paranoia is not a pretty site in the young!
saint84 Posted 17 January, 2011 Share Posted 17 January, 2011 At the end of the day people can read between the lines all they want and make up loads of stories. I think the funniest one so far was that Man U were interested after Alex Ferguson watched us at Oldham yet isn't it his job to watch teams that they're playing in a couple of weeks time? Especially as Oldham is only down the road for him. It's also so easy to say Arsenal are looking at him and about to buy him considering their previous links with us and young stars. So what if a scout comes to watch us on occassion. Just the same as Liverpool, they're desperate for a good young player who is likely to play for them for years to come and help bring back the glory days but realistically they're probably looking at a dozen other players. I saw the whole Adkins interview as positive and in my eyes if he goes it will be because he wants to go and he's been blinded by the lights rather than Saints selling him. If we get £5mill or £10mill for him who's to say that we can't attract a couple of decent players and bring in more youngsters of about his age and flurrish with our youth facilities?
