I'll hazard a guess and say not too bad since his replacement is only in on a months loan...
SFC Forever Posted 21 February, 2011 Share Posted 21 February, 2011 I think after a couple of under 21 games we will have an idea of how good the lad is. Am wondering whether we are going to do a deal with him and Alex in the summer.

Saint Charlie Posted 21 February, 2011 Share Posted 21 February, 2011 But bad enough that a loan was deemed necessary. Only because Forecast is out on loan (and is rubbish) so we would have no cover on the bench.
Window Cleaner Posted 21 February, 2011 Share Posted 21 February, 2011 But bad enough that a loan was deemed necessary. well if it kept him out of just one game we'd need a loan because we don't have anyone else, last time the U21s played we had a trialist in goal remember.Kelv and the Academy keeper are all that's left with no Bart. Exciting Prospect with Pace and swapped him for Twenty Pieces of Silver & a Goalkeeper from a North London based PL team... hamster Posted 21 February, 2011 Share Posted 21 February, 2011 Surprised that Arsenal have let us have one of their decent keepers and can't help wondering if that might be viewed some kind of sweetener.

It's surprising that Arsenal would loan a young player, who isn't even on the bench, to a lower League side? Really? I think all this talk of Shea being some kind of makeweight for AOC is just lazy conjecture. I mean seriously, when do you ever hear about clubs loaning players out months before a potential transfer has taken place? If we sell AOC it will be because the price is right and the player wants to leave. Not as a thankyou for loaning us a goalkeeper.

Shea's been involved at England senior level I believe and has been used as cover for a couple of the best keepers in the Prem. He's won a couple of very respectable medals at youth level. They (Arsenal) state on their website that he hopes to taste first team football with us, I'm assuming that he has every possibilty of getting a start or two as has Bart recently. Thinking about it, you are right actually and there is most likely no link whatsoever to the loan and any future deal, we can all remember those who were convinced that Morgan was waiting in the wings here for the call up so i take it back, still don't accept the lazy tag though but that is perhaps because it's true. I'll shut up now.

Saints involved in business with Arsenal, therefore part of a deal for AOC. Not saying he wont sign for Arsenal in the summer, but I don't think this is much of an indicator. hamster Posted 22 February, 2011 Share Posted 22 February, 2011 I think many of us were taken in by the prospect of Alex heading to North london, even Nicola stated that that particular speculation had contributed to other clubs assuming that he was heading off and we'd have surplus funds from the sale. Maybe Arsenal like the look of Bart and are letting us have a closer look at Shea? Now that is lazy conjecture but I personally I'm surprised he's stuck around and really like his style between the sticks. He'll play at a higher level one day I am sure.
