alehouseboys Posted 16 March, 2011 Share Posted 16 March, 2011 Having had a look on the Charlton OS for some information for our visit next week I saw they are cutting adult ST prices by £50 next season. You can get adults for £240, about a tenner a match, their most expensive ST in the ground is £375. Thought I'd take a look at others around us to see what they're charging for adults and found (early bird prices in most cases) that Sheff Wed is £289 for their Kop, Peterborough is £275 for a terrace ST and I remember reading Brighton charging £375 whether renewing or new applications. As we're hoping to be a league higher next season I had a look at Derby, similar size club, stadium and support to us, and they're charging from £270 for adults (I guess in their family section), it wasn't the easiest to understand but behind the goals/corners it looks like between £350-£400. Someone mentioned we won't hear anything before July regarding STs at SMS so looks like they're waiting to see how the season pans out. Don't fleece us Mr Chairman please. The Godfather Posted 16 March, 2011 Share Posted 16 March, 2011 Well mine cost £340 for the current season and I bet if we go up their will be another unwelcome increase, considering I paid £290 the season before.
JonnyLove Posted 16 March, 2011 Share Posted 16 March, 2011 Ok look at it this way The average cost for a ticket is what £22-£24 so lest say £22 for an adult ticket if purchased on it's own. This x 23 (home games) is £506 So if a Season ticket costs less than this then you are saving money. My season ticket cost me I think about £350 (can't quite remember) That has saved me a total of £156 or to put it another way I can afford to not attend 7 home games in a season before it was not worth me buying one. So before everyone *****es about season ticket prices Do the Maths and then realise that in general the season ticket is still excellent value if you want to go to most home games. (not to mention the fact you get preferences on other ticket's for important games)

Excellent value compared to poor value game by game tickets isn't excellent value. It will be interesting to see what will happen if we don't go up, because I can see a LOT of people walking away at the current prices for a third season in League One, the same thing happened in the Championship. A whole heap of people claimed it was a boycott... but did they come back ?
Tony F Posted 16 March, 2011 Share Posted 16 March, 2011 The financial arguement is one thing (ie ££ per match if you go to ALL home matches or how many matches you can afford to miss vs paying the standard price). However surely the real benefit of a ST is convenience. You don't have to buy a ticket each game (+£3 ticket tax of course - grrrr), wonder where you'll be sitting if you leave it too late, whether you'll have "the right sort of person" around you etc etc. (Some are fussier than others!!) As a ST holder you sit in the same seat with the same view (normally a good view, as the best seats are ST seats) and get to know the people around you. It turns into more of a day out, cos you can continue your daily banter from one home match to another. Plus if you miss a match your mates will text you how we're doing..... That's the real benefit of digging deep at the start of the season..... oh - almost forgot - when we draw Poopey or Man U in the cup, or get to a final at Wembley (like we did), you get first option of a decent seat with no need to take part in an unseemly scrumage or hours spent queueing up. My thoughts exactly. Even if a season ticket worked out a bit more expensive for me, I'd still be tempted to get one, just to save the hassle, plus, as shown this season, the massive benefit of priority for away tickets. At least you'll know if you're being ripped off. If we remain in this division I'd expect it to stay about the same, if we go up so will the price, understandable. La BoIS Saint Posted 16 March, 2011 Share Posted 16 March, 2011 Wondering how many clubs have announced ST prices, maybe OP could let us know.
Simster Posted 17 March, 2011 Share Posted 17 March, 2011 I remember reading Brighton charging £375 whether renewing or new applications.Slightly off topic, but we've sold 14,000 season tickets already for next season at the Amex and they haven't even gone on general sale yet. I think they have to be capped at around 18,000 because of initial ground capacity. It'll be nice to be a proper football club again.
The9 Posted 17 March, 2011 Share Posted 17 March, 2011 Wondering how many clubs have announced ST prices, maybe OP could let us know. Lots. Gives you some idea of the confidence the club has in our support when the likes of Stoke are doing early bird deals whilst in the Prem and we're... well... blindly stumbling along in the dark as usual. ...even the argument that we're waiting to find out what division we're in holds no water, just bring out two sets of prices, we've done it before (CCC Play-Off season we did early bird and the prices stuck whether in the Championship or Prem). This. After last season I'm not hoping that the club are going to give much notice. I'd advise anyone who would normally look to use an instalments scheme to try and squirrel away £300-£400 in the next three months.

It wouldn't surprise me to see you sell all 18k on the back of promotion and a new stadium and nice to see them offering season tickets on a 12 month interest free payment plan. Wonder if anyone at St Marys has thought about doing that?
