The Kraken Posted 12 May, 2011 Share Posted 12 May, 2011 Whoever comes down from the Prem will be amongst the favourites because of the parachute payments. And the three teams who don't go up via the playoffs will be up there too. So we'll be expected to be around upper to mid-table. Which is fair, if they assume we'll spend some money. I was a little surprised to see Leeds at 20/1, being as they just missed out on the playoffs after a great start to the season.
SaintAndy14 Posted 12 May, 2011 Share Posted 12 May, 2011 Nice to see us so near the top (of the teams named so far), although look at Boro last season - clear favourites and spent all season hanging around near the bottom. I certainly think that expectation/pressure plays a big part, and the fact that we are predicted to have a decent season (mid-table to playoffs) but nobody expects us to necessarily go up I think will help us. Just look at Norwich this season!

smithy Posted 12 May, 2011 Share Posted 12 May, 2011 Everybody seems to think Boro are far better than they really are. Mind you Strachan was a disaster there. And has been everywhere else but here weirdly. My Coventry mate at work effing hates him.

My what a surprise that is. Wouldn't waste money on him going to Arsenal myself though. Arsenal need real players to challenge for something next season; Ox is a great prospect but he won't win them a trophy next season.

Neil Posted 24 May, 2011 Share Posted 24 May, 2011 http://bettingzone.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/next-season Paddy Power have Saints 18/1, a bit more realistic than Skybet's 10s? Can anyone see any early value in any team, and who's bundling in at 18/1?
daveygwyatt Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 Still think Saints would be worth a small each way bet at 18/1. But thats more my heart saying it than my head.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 I don't think it will be as easy as some seem to think - mind you, nice to see us above Pimpley in a table once again. (;
Deppo Posted 25 May, 2011 Share Posted 25 May, 2011 I'd rather bet on Leeds at 20/1 than Saints at 18/1.
