Honk Kong Phooey Posted 17 May, 2011 Share Posted 17 May, 2011 Some great saints stats from the official league one page: http://www.football-league.co.uk/features/20110517/npower-league-1-in-numbers_2293307_2361567 These include 24 - Southampton were the unluckiest side in league 1, hitting the woodwork ore that anyone else 83 - Rickie Lambert lead the individual shooting stats, for the second season in a row. He had the most shots on target 83, and the most off target 58 351 - Southampton topped the shooting stats with the most shots on and off target. They were on target 351 times and off it 293. So, all we need now to conquer the NPC is to improve our conversion ratio of shots to goals. Now where could we find a good shooting coach? But great stats show why we've enjoyed this season 24 times hitting the woodwork? Hell I reckon there must have been some PL seasons when we didn't even have that many shots! mdearlove Posted 18 May, 2011 Share Posted 18 May, 2011 I like this one myself: 22,160 - Southampton had the highest average attendance with over 4,000 more than second placed Sheffield Wednesday
PokingFun Posted 18 May, 2011 Share Posted 18 May, 2011 Oh god please don't they'll be on here "but sir, but sirrrrrrrrrr, we won the league!*stamps foot*" They might have won the league but Poyet had a 51.1% win ratio and Adkins 66.6% so quite a significant difference and shows clearly that had NA been in from the start with a decent pre-season then the likelihood is that we would have gone up as champions. Only 45 games but to win 2/3rds is quite astonishing. Let the nancy boys put that one up their pipe ....
Thedelldays Posted 18 May, 2011 Share Posted 18 May, 2011 remember, they "romped" the league...despite us being only 1 win away from winning it ourselves...with the start we had, owner dying, change of manager etc.....
dellboypete Posted 18 May, 2011 Share Posted 18 May, 2011 Thanks for thelink - some good stats there. One surprise for me was that we attracted only 5 of the highest home gates this this season (still more than any one else in Lge 1). But compare that to Leeds in the NPC who attracted 14 of the highest crowds. Currently we would be 7th highest average in the NPC (actually I'm quite impressed with the size of crowds in the top half of the NPC), but I reckon if weget off to a good start we'll be averaging around 26 to 27k - or even more if we are in the top 6 from the off - which would put us on a par with Leeds (27k)
