Delmary Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 It's a small world. Jimmy is coaching at Seattle Sounders (part owned by Paul Allen) Found these two really good articles about Jimmy's playing and coaching career: http://soccerseattlestyle.com/wp/?p=65 http://soccerseattlestyle.com/wp/?p=
VectisSaint Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 Message for Jim. "Have a word in Tod Leiweke's shell-like and ask him to put in a word for us with Mr Allen". Jimmy Gabriel, ah great reminder of my lost youth.
Badger Posted 6 November, 2008 Share Posted 6 November, 2008 I have often hoped an ex-player might appear on a white charger from over the brow of a hill, bringing a billion or so quid with him...or at least introducing someone to the club with the dosh. Why can't Terry Paine divert some major investor from the South African consortium previously rumoured to be looking at Newcastle ?
trousers Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 Can I be the first to point out that a year ago Trousers predicted a strategic alliance between Seattle's fledgling MLS "soccer" team and SFC.... I hereby claim half a point for this somewhat tenuous result.

trousers Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 Dont they have some kind of link up with Cambridge United though Trousers? Ah...didn't know that. Bugger. Still worth half a point though?
Pancake Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 Ah...didn't know that. Bugger. Still worth half a point though? Its kind of tricky I think. Adrian Hanauer is Chairman of Seattle Sounders (USL), which is the team that will morph into Seattle Sounders FC (MSL) from the 2009 season on. Hanauer will be co-owner of SSFC alongside Paul Allen and a couple of others. Hanauer is alos linked to Cambridge United by buying 15% for $250,000 in 2007... Confused? Well, lets just throw in the Seattle Sounders (USL) and Seattle Sounders FC (MSL) are both the newer versions of Seattle Sounders (NASL), which is the team the Jimmy Gabriel originally coached in 1977-79. He then went back as an assistant coach to the SS (USL) team in 1997... got no idea if he is now linking up with SSFC (MSL)

He's done incredibly well over in the States and there was talk at the time of him maybe returning to the UK. Jimmy's still a real hero at Everton and for me was a very special player at Saints. There was so little interest that I began thinking everyone'd forgotten what a great player he was for us.
