Um Bongo Posted 8 November, 2008 Share Posted 8 November, 2008 So much for the comeback, eh? People are saying 'Oh, we'll be alright when Svensson comes back'. Do you honestly think he will?
Thedelldays Posted 8 November, 2008 Share Posted 8 November, 2008 i would be very shocked if he played another 10 games MAX for us...and shocked if he played half of those for the 90 mins...

TopGun Posted 8 November, 2008 Share Posted 8 November, 2008 i would be very shocked if he played another 10 games MAX for us...and shocked if he played half of those for the 90 mins... Agreed. There's no way we should consider building a defence around Svensson unfortunately. I think he should also consider the long term effects of trying to push his knee with implants and injections. He'll be buggered by 50 at this rate. The right thing to do is keep him on this season as a sub when he can play and then offer him a coaching role because he obviously has a huge heart, immeasurable mental fortitude and great experience that can help the others. L1Minus10 Posted 8 November, 2008 Share Posted 8 November, 2008 The management of the club took a gamble on him being fit and probably playing 40ish games this season which was never ever going to happen
Micky Posted 9 November, 2008 Share Posted 9 November, 2008 Michael Svensson - we gambled, we lost.... not for the first time in recent years...!!! Agree entirely with TopGun though - in his prime he was inspirational - and those qualities could well be utilised towards our youngsters in a coaching role. NickG Posted 9 November, 2008 Share Posted 9 November, 2008 I think they're all just being extra careful. If he overdoes it he is finished. A fit Svennson is a huge bonus to us. agreed, not worth basing a team around but anything we get will be a bonus
