Mowgli Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them...
Saint Garrett Posted 26 April, 2013 Author Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Agree, but he will get better - does need to play games though. I thought he'd play more for Arsenal than he has done.

rshephard3 Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them... I'd assume they're planning to build their team around him and Wilshire in the near future. Let's not be hasty in writing off one of the most exciting young players around. Still a great move for him IMO and definitely a no brainer.
a1ex2001 Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Great player for us and a nice guy, I wish him all the best and hope he fullfills his potential.
Saint_clark Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them... Why not? Walcott has scored a hattrick at international level, played in the champions league etc. Chamberlain I admit hasn't achieved as much, and I'm still fairly surprised he was loaned back to us for the NPC season, but he wouldn't have played for England had he stayed. UpweySaint Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them... Theo I think so, we were in serious decline when we left. Not sure how he would have developed with us or if he'd gone elsewhere but he's certainly doing well if not spectacularly so. Chamberlain you may have a point. Could have been a pivotal part of our side and would have had plenty of game time and, if we continue to progress, he could have moved on to the top level with us. Either way both players are good lads and we should be proud. Between Bale, AOC and Theo there arent too many young british players around as exciting as those coming through our academy! FarehamRed Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Its not looking the no brainer move that it was at the time though is it? For either of them... Football-wise, they would probably have benefited from playing more games with us. Bank balance-wise, it was a no-brainer.
old_southy Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 It is a shame as AOC would be the perfect fit for us now.
de-fence Posted 26 April, 2013 Share Posted 26 April, 2013 Not sure why but I didn't feel as comfortable giving him that ovation after the Arsenal game as I did for Walcott. With Walcott it was sensible for all parties with us being short on cash and in a bit of a slump. With AOC we were on the up and I think it was also the behaviour of his dad, trying to solicit the move in the press that annoyed me. Also, I may have been the only one who thought this but in the away game AOC seemed really eager to score against us. Like I've never seen a player try and be so lively and direct with the ball, trying to get shots off whenever he could. I know that's his style of play but it was a different level. As if he had a point to prove. Walcott on the other hand played his normal game and even though he did score, he handled the situation with dignity.
