crenol Posted 24 August, 2015 Share Posted 24 August, 2015 West Ham has only contributed £15m towards the £272m conversion costs of the Olympic Stadium, with the taxpayer footing the rest of the bill. Considering the cost to the taxpayer, and the effect of this taxpayer subsidy on competition between clubs, a full public inquiry into the deal is needed. On top of the minimal conversion contribution, West Ham has been allowed to keep the sale proceeds of their current stadium, valued at £71m. Rental is £2.5m a year, halving should WHU be relegated. Taxpayers will cover the costs of stadium utilities, security, pitch maintenance, goalposts and corner flags - estimated to be worth £1.4m - £2.5m a year. Public money should be used responsibly, and in a way which does not distort the competitiveness of independent sports bodies and businesses. Over 20,000 signatures have been achieved already but it is really important that all football clubs join together to ensure there is an inquiry into this. This level of help for one club alone, at the expense of the tax payer, makes a mockery of fair play and opportunity for all. crenol Posted 24 August, 2015 Author Share Posted 24 August, 2015 Does anyone really read this sub-forum? Saw that "the Saints" has nearly all the viewers. Would it be possible to post this petition in there somewhere?

Saint IQ Posted 24 August, 2015 Share Posted 24 August, 2015 A few backhanders must have been gifted to secure a deal as ridiculous as this
saintmonkey1979 Posted 25 August, 2015 Share Posted 25 August, 2015 So wrong. Signed and shared. Even my WHU fan dad has signed it
Bucks Saint Posted 25 August, 2015 Share Posted 25 August, 2015 Done. But also agree this should be on the main forum. Thanks
ecuk268 Posted 25 August, 2015 Share Posted 25 August, 2015 I object to paying for the corner flags. Signed.
Stu Man Do Posted 25 August, 2015 Share Posted 25 August, 2015 Seems ridiculous that the deal is so heavily weighted in West Hams favour. For that quality of stadium I'm sure they could have "convinced" them to pay more. The tax payer funding their stewarding and corner flags? Wtf! Agree this should be on the main board though! holepuncture Posted 25 August, 2015 Share Posted 25 August, 2015 Signed, f*ck em. An insult to Leyton Orient. Is this a bit too late? They are moving in next summer, conversion work must be underway by now, funded by the nation of course.
Ampersound Posted 26 August, 2015 Share Posted 26 August, 2015 Signed. Halving their rental if relegated? Stupid... I want them to get relegated at full cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OldNick Posted 26 August, 2015 Share Posted 26 August, 2015 this thread needs to be moved to the main page but also circulated to the greater media and all football clubs forums etc
