Morning fellas!

Just wondered, if all else fails, will the spirit of Southampton see us through these turbulent times?

No matter how much crap flies about, I still wake up on match days positive, just hope thousands of sotonians doing the same thing may just see us through!!

a heart warming 2-1 victory for me today, Saga netting the winner!

Doubt it.The spirit of Southampton as we refer to it was a success as we had a combination of The Dell crowd (vocal and close to the pitch) creating an atmosphere, and players who really cared and were totally committed.

It was infectious.Remember Hassan Kachloul in our great escape year.Despite everything said about him later he responded magnificently to the crowd and the drive of Dodd-Benali-MLT.

Now we have more 'paying customers' at 'The Rupertdome',a team of inexperienced youngsters without a guiding figure on or off the pitch, mixed with some transient loans and imports who are probably already thinking of where they want to play next season.

it seems the spirit has gone. nothing at the club to remind anyone of it. Just look at the differences between teh dell and st marys. the dell had a hostile atmoshpere. Away players just did not like it, it was cold and dreary in their changing room, which really was a ****tip. everywhere you looked you could see something to reming you of southampton, whether it be the red and white, or spirit of southampton on the wall tiles. They come to st marys now and its like a ****ing 5* hotel, nothing to intimidate them. Go into the home changing room, its exactly the same, nothing to remind them of the team tehy are playing for.

I can remember some terrible half-hearted performances at the Dell as well - it wasn't always blood and thunder.

Judging by the infighting between shareholders, fans (if this forum is anything to go by)and allegedly even some players, the answer to the original question is no.

The question every single one of us should be asking is what are we going to do about it?

The fans are the club; owners, creditors, shareholders and players are temporary - we are the one constant this club has and if we continue the in-fighting and vitriol spouted on here we're not going to help our situation one bit.

It is pointless arguing about who caused this mess - the history only proves that none of RL, MW or LC are suitable to resolve it as they are either incompetent, devisive or both. And the childishness of all them (and others) at the AGM just highlights it once again.

Like most fans, I am utterly depressed, and lurch from thinking of not going to games as a protest, to knowing the club (not the board) need my money; and from wanting to vent my frustration at games so that at least someone might hear how p*ssed off we all are, to knowing that this is not going to help the kids on the park who are doing their best and are not to blame.

In order to recreate some sort of spirit in the club, we the fans have to make a start. It is about time we discussed on here what exactly it is we want an how we can achieve those goals rather than throw verbal cr*p at eachother, which is what 90% of the posts on here do.

Amongst all the rubbish in here, there are plenty of people with brains and knowledge to go with undoubted passion, so why don't we start thinking about activities and strategies that can actually help the situation.

If we as fans can come up with an agreed course of action, we might actually achieve something. At present, we all sound like whinging kids.

Lowey could not have put the message out better......Just what my freind, always spouts and he is one of his close luvvies ay, leave it to Lowey, as there is no one else and unless you have a better idea, then shut up.

Oh! yeah, sounds like Lowey propaganda...sorry mate..no offence to you.

In any case, its a forum for us to have a good old go, now and again....But then again most of us are freinds and fellow supporters, unlike those that only come on to spread the propagada sh.te. AND give it to us lot...the rabble.... he would have you spout.

If your a good un.....well put old boy.

The spirit of Southampton died when Rupert Lowe started to use it as a marketing ploy.

The spirit truely lived when we were still at the Dell,it was us against them.We were always the small side with a big heart and lions courage. This was the true spirit of Southampton.

The trip to Selhurst, coming back to draw three after being three down. This was the true spirit of Southampton.

Rupert and his mob do not have a clue what spirit means.

The spirit of Southampton went when Lowe came back again

Yep.

It was on the critical list for the first half of last season thanks to Burley, went into arrest under Dodd and Gorman, was briefly resusscitated under Pearson and Crouch, but the life support machine was switched off by Lowe and Wilde.

Maybe for you but I still feel the spirit of Southampton in a lot of things. Most definitely when I ring fellow fans and hear of their passion for the team and everything about it.

Fine.

For me, the whole family/community feel of our club and Saturday afternoons has been on the wane for years, probably since becoming a plc.

But not the trip to Preston where we came back from two down to win 3-2

I'm with you on this one :D

I had a phone conversation with Tijuana Tim this week. In many ways it has reignited my passion for this great club. He's really right about not letting all the rubbish affect our support. When we are losing we should shout louder. Booing won't help anything and it's the same with the Lowe situation. We obviously aren't going to get rid of him any time soon so lets be constructive and do our best under difficult circumstances. That's what I'm going to do anyway.

I think that this sums it up. I really don`t think that it is to do with whether we are at The Dell or at SMS. It is to do with Southampton attitude, a love of the City, and an appreciation of what the Club means to Sotonians. Rupert and his mob really don`t have a clue!

The result against Preston was great one but it did not spark a winning run.It was a flash in the pan just like the rest of the results this season. The spirit does not exist under Lowe.

I support the team on the pitch and not the boardroom, the spirit still exists with a few of us. By the way what year was you referring to on the 3-3 draw at Selhurst so I can see if that was a flash in the pan :D
