Mole Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Please post your favourite Wilde quotes. "FWIW I heard that Wilde resigned because there was too much media and fan pressure focusing on the investment issue and that this was putting the whole Board under pressure. He resigned to take the heat off the club and its executives and allow them to get on with the job while he carried on working on the investment issue in the background and out of the spotlight. The statement that he resigned because of a failure to raise finance was only issued to try and reduce fans unrealistic expectations. IMO, it was through Wilde's efforts, that PA was clearly aware that his approach would be welcomed rather than shunned and this is a big factor when looking at a potential acquisition. We now know that PA had contact with the club several months ago, before MW's resignation. IMO it is down to Wilde that we now have this opportunity to stabilise and secure the long term future of the club. If this takeover goes through I think we all owe him bigtime." "If that is a genuine question - the Executives have, I believe, in total 50,000 shares owned by David Jones - less than 0.2 of 1% - a negligible figure I think you'll agree. Only LC has a significant shareholding 9.95% of the Club. This is exactly why we need to get the main shareholding groups all represented on the Board. The Board in its present incarnation is more of a hinderance to a takeover IMO rather than of any assistance. Too many monkeys and not enough organ grinders! A situation the Execs have created through their political manoeverings.. " "It seems to me that Messrs H & D really think they are the masters of PR and spin. Not a day goes by without some new "leak" or statement designed to further their personal agendas. IMO they seem to have grossly overestimated their PR skills and underestimated the intelligence of their customer base. Their agendas are transparent in the extreme and they have lost all credibility as a result. We need an experienced and financially astute CEO who can get a grip on the finances of the Club and a Chairman commited to the success of SFC. One thing is clear we have neither of these at the moment.." "Thing is it's all gone dramatically downhill since Wilde left. They're all running around now like headless chickens.." "As Brian Bennet said in the Echo today "Right now I would say come back Michael Wilde, as most of us really believed that you would be good for this club" Ever since he resigned the Board have gone downhill, with in-fighting and internal politics, destroying the spirit of our Club. IMO Wilde has been badly let down by all those currently on the Board, most of whom he brought in, both Executives and Non-Executives. I am sure he is looking on in dismay at what is happening - particularly with the Executives seizing control of the PLC Board with a flagrent disregard for his Manifesto. I echo Brian Bennet's sentiment - Wilde was always crucial to the success of our club post-RL and we are now starting to see why. I only hope he steps up to the plate once more and delivers the Club from this ridiculous situation (yet again) as I can't see anyone else out there capable of sorting this out and certainly not anyone on the current Board.." rocknrollman no2 Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I spoke to Wilde just after Lowe had left for the first time. After thanking him for helping Lowe go,he said that "Football should be fun".He then said it would be nice to see the fans concentrate on the game, rather than the board at SMS. Thought he was a breath of fresh air at the time, but just goes to show how wrong one can be sometimes.
benjii Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 He's clearly been a complete joke. Whilst people can debate the merits or otherwise of Lowe, Wilde will be viewed universally in years to come as nothing but an unmitigated pariah IMO. He has an opportunity to right a wrong. He still has the opportunity to give us our club back. Let's give him a chance. Do it Mike - put in Crouch if necessary but please please remove Lowe and this plc nonsense forever.

INFLUENCED.COM Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I wonder who bought the 'Saints go Wilde' T-shirts? Those who bought into him full stop are those who are accountable for the current mess, not the regular fan who would get carried away with all the talk but those who held positions of responsibility to our club, Crouch, Corbett and significant others who offered support which prevented the EGM, those who were obliged to carry out due diligence on him and his, I know we have had apologies/words of regret from thosepeople but is that really enough, if I had let people down that badly I would spend every waking hour putting right the wrong, yet still we wait on significant investment and the constant threat of administration. I have to admit you have a point - and to be fair those people should shoulder blame BUT in mitigation I will say that Lowe had created an atmosphere where he was so abhorred that it is almost understandabe that in the clamour to get rid of him the process of "due diligence" was set to one side. Almost like a drowning man does not check the seaworthiness of a passing lifeboat.

If things come to the worst though, it may be administration we fear, not Lowe's eccentricities.
Snowballs2 Posted 12 January, 2009 Share Posted 12 January, 2009 If at some time in the future we do get taken over, I believe that the average supporter will be much more suspicious of the new owners. Remember Wilde...we got our club back? ..yea right !
