Chris Gunter

Have heard that we are looking at trying to get Chris Gunter on loan until the end of the season, but there is interest from elsewhere.

Any deal would be dependant on Spurs agreeing to pay a large percentage of his wages though, so don't hold your breath.

We'll have to wait and see. At least it shows the management are looking at the RB position I suppose.

From the BBC website:

1629: JJR informs me that Spurs full-back (how many have they got?) Chris Gunter is set to join Championship side Preston North End on loan.

Ooh missed that.

Maybe Preston are our competition then?

Would be a decent signing IMO.

We've been crying out for a proper RB for ages now.

Linked with Charlton as well. If we assume he isn't keen on moving to Lancashire, he may decide to stay south with us or them.

Can't imagine there will be much of a financial incentive between the three of us. Preston is a long drive in the snow.

That's exactly what I think of, Scudamore.

Anyway, this deal is never going to happen. We are not capable of signing a player like Chris Gunter.

I love how gullable so many of you are, believing the likes of saint c*ck stevo. Dos Santos? LOL!!!!!

Better off dropping Lloyd. He is only in the team due to him being the only one deemed capable of filling in at RB.

Disagree. A decent crosser of the ball who TBH lacks some defensiv ability. Another one who needs to be given a chance in his preferred position before we make any decision.

Well things can change very quickly it would seem.

I've just had a call saying we've dropped our interest in Gunter but haven't heard why.

I can only assume it's to do with the wages.

Seems this one was over before it ever begun!

Maybe we'll look to sign a RB on loan over the coming weeks though?

Here's hoping!

His preferred position? So you want him to play CM do you?

Yes he isn't a bad crosser but there are others I would play ahead of him at RM.

McLaggon seeing as he is a right sided player. You can also have BWP or Lallana. Then on the left we have Holmes, Skacel or Ryan Smith.

I was under the impression that Ryan Smith was a right-sided player. If true (not saying it is) then I don't think we want to go down the road again of playing players in their wrong positions. Holmes is injured so not going to happen and Skacel has to play at left back whilst Lee serves his suspension (and it's unlikely IMO that this administration will play him in midfield.) So currently we have very little for left midfield. Mclaggon has also played well in the last couple of games and deserves a chance to show what he can do. Lallana should not be played on the right and needs a spell on the sidelines after quite a few average performances. I would certainly play James over BWP as well, I have never rated him.

James deserves a chance in his proper position, he has put in some fantastic balls this season and we could really benefit from these if he was to play in a more advanced position. It's worth a try.

He is a good crosser. A great ball in for Saganowski's goal against Norwich. I'd like to see him get further forward before crossing. If we're going to play narrower in midfield, that's a possibility from fullback.
