Master Bates Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 Last night on Radio Solent they said Jason Euell would be offered a new contract and todays echo has Wotte saying he'll be offering Matthew Paterson a contract extension this week. Well done to everyone last night, the players, the management and the fans. First time i've listened to an away match on the radio and been able to sing along. But will Euell accept the contract we are likly to offer? Im guessing it will be much reduced to what it is now with possibly a hefty promotion bonus or win bonus's? Surly if one of the reasons he hasnt played is down to not being able to afford to pay his wages then the new offer will not match what he is already on? Cant see us keeping hold of him if his form continues tbh
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 We have to keep him to keep the continuity - simply must - it will be a massive blow to lose him now, not only in terms of his contribution to the game but also in what he brings to the younger players also IMO. ozzmeister Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 Depends how much he loves the club and what other offers he gets. Not sure if another CC club will come in for him but if he does have offers state side for a final swang song in a warmer client then I think he will take it. Shame, as I think only now we are utilitsing him for what he is worth! Glad with Patterson contract talks, could potentially be a big player going forward - just blood him slowly though! slickmick Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 Does this signify that we aren't going into administration ? Sounds like were not.

Bucks Saint Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 Does this signify that we aren't going into administration ? Sounds like were not. SO many posters on here were telling us it was definitely happening by 26 Feb or thereabouts. Its the flaming 4th of March, we cant trust Lowe to do anything right

I think that is the reason that is suggested TBH. He was injured but there have been plenty of games where he should have been available and considered and wasnt. He was kind of stuck though. If he was on the money that has been reported he was unlikly to find another club when he cant get into our team unless he was prepared to take a big hit in his wages. So sit here and take the money or take the hit and move on? im glad he stayed now
BadgerBadger Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 I don't think Euell has much allegiance to this club - he was given a rough ride last season by the fans cause he was playing sh1te (albeit it in a sh1te team lacking team spirit) but I don't think he's got over that. It was interesting what Wotte said about him last night: "His contract is expiring, so he has personal reasons to play well." Shopping window I reckon, some of the more financially sound teams will snap him up on a tidy wage. Hope I'm wrong!

Hope I'm wrong! thats what i was thinking too. it maybe that he is playing to stay here but cant really be blamed if he is playing to find his next club. we have him till the end of this season though and that is what matters right now. would probably be looking to offload 1 or 2 high earners anyway (or renegotiate some contracts) unless we can find another way to get some money in for next season. Throw in Lowe was trying desperately to get people off the wage bill and the question of bonuses. I get the feeling that they may have come to an agreement over these bonuses. As far as I know the salary figures given in the Echo for all our high earners is correct but missing a sizeable amount from the bonuses. Fair play to Wotte for making this non acadamic by playing him up front. Thinking back these bonuses would have explained some of the strange decisions with players under Burley. Saint_clark Posted 4 March, 2009 Share Posted 4 March, 2009 Did he not say anything about Davis? Is the guy not deserving of a contract??
