Including the likes of Boyle who has been doing well so far is probably not to give them a 1st team start or a go on the bench just yet, but probably more to do with the seamless transition betwwen the acadamy and 1st team. Of all the ideas with the Dutch Experiment, the use of all of the squad training together sounds pretty good to me. Let hope that it produces a bit more than any previous systems. Let hope that it produces a bit more than any previous systems. As Pearson himself said back in March I think it is a very good idea: "I have worked at clubs where the academy and the first team are seperate entities and not integrated at all and those clubs are poorer for it". If it means that youngsters learn off the older players (and vice versa) then it can only be a good thing. Hopefully it will make the step up to the first team lass daunting. um pahars Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 just think how early we would have been safe if he had given him more than 10 minutes while he was here? Like Wotte, Pearson is/was more than aware of how to get the best out of a team and how to use youngsters. His record at Leicester is a great example of his belief in them, along with his experience in the England Yout set ups, and when questioned about our run in, he said: "Short term is the immediate priority but I am looking long term too. Alot of my background is working with youngsters. I worked with the England youth teams for three years and I see the Academy as a massive part of the CLub. It cannot be my priority at the moment but it will get my total support in terms of fitting in with the philosophy of the Club. I have worked at clubs where the academy and the first team are seperate entities and not integrated at all and those clubs are poorer for it." Pearson delivered his side of the deal last season, he did what he had to do.

um pahars Posted 8 March, 2009 Share Posted 8 March, 2009 not seen -don't follow lower leagues! Really???? You were happy to chip in with this little beauty a couple of weeks back and you seemed to know alot about them back then (or thought you did). Stephen Clemence, Matt Oakley, Steve Howard, Matty Fryett, Bruno N'Gotty, Paul Dickov, Chris Powell, -wonder how their wage bill compares to ours?! Got to be some of the best players for the 3rd tier ever? And picking up on your last line, here was his starting line up yesterday: Stockdale, 23 Gilbert, 21 (loanee) Morrison, 20 Hobbs, 20 (loanee) Mattock 18 Cleverley, 19 (loanee) Oakley 31 King 20 Gradel, 21 Fryatt, 22 Howard 32 Stuffed with household names, experienced players, big wages & the best players for the third tier ever:---):---)
benjii Posted 8 March, 2009 Share Posted 8 March, 2009 I don't understand.... Is Pearson building a team of young, British players, capable of winning many matches in the English professional leagues? How the bejeezus has he managed that without a Revolutionary New Coaching Setup, a seamless transition, a curve-ball of a formation, a throw-back to the seventies and a massive bag of.... balls? How the bejeezus has he managed that without a Revolutionary New Coaching Setup, a seamless transition, a curve-ball of a formation, a throw-back to the seventies and a massive bag of.... balls? And all managed without any reference to Totale Voetball!!!!!! Seems like Pearson is building his own team there, augmenting it with a view experienced pro's as I certainly don't remember any of that team from last season with the exception of Oaks, Howard and Fryatt. Certainly his words before and his actions since would suggest he would have been comfortable here, just such a shame Lowe had to bring in Poortvliet instead of him. And just fvor NickG, which are the really talented bestest players of the thrid tier ever in that starting 11 LMFAO?????

See Nick this is where you always let yourself down...Pearsons first game and who was in the squad? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/?page_id=9787 Even though Lallana was struggling for most of last season with a re-occuring calf injury he was selected when available and felt fit to play. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/?page_id=9514 Edited 9 March, 2009 by Give it to Ron

um pahars Posted 9 March, 2009 Share Posted 9 March, 2009 btw Lallana played total of about 15 mins last season And scored a vital goal and groomed by the illustrious Pearson to be the player he is today. In fact Pearson managed to get a goal out of him in 15 minutes, the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up have taken over 30 games to get the same return out of him;)
Give it to Ron Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 only teasing him so not letting myself down at all! btw Lallana played total of about 15 mins last season Because he struggled for most of the season with a calf injury!!! I know I watched him struggle in the reserves with it - so did Pearson who hardly ever missed a game either.

NickG Posted 10 March, 2009 Author Share Posted 10 March, 2009 He played against Sheff Utd in the last game, but not sure for how long. I exagerated a bit - 15 mins and 17 mins in his two games.
