david in sweden Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 MARK Wotte has warned his players they cannot afford to lose focus, even for a minute, if they are to survive in the Championship. More... He's not wrong there...playing to the whistle, (especially when added time is involved) shouldn't be done with one eye on the clock in the 46th min.! alpine_saint Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 Wow, a Saints team switched off at a critical juncture. That's never happened before, has it ?
saintstr1 Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 Lets hope we are all switched on for tonight , For what its worth I would start with Mcgoldrick on the bench tonight and play Lallana in the hole leaving Jason Eull up front where he has been very effective. Weston Super Saint Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 Which 'bright spark' moved this thread then? Probably the reorganisation of the forums....
SaintRobbie Posted 10 March, 2009 Share Posted 10 March, 2009 Well they take their lead from the manager, who intern takes his from the chairman. So switching off at critical moments and poor decision-making is endemic. Wotte - if they switched off it's YOUR fault. Sort it or go.

What manager has never come out after a defeat and made similar comments? It is standard practice. What did you expect him to say when asked about our loss, "search me, I haven't a clue, we lost you say?"

'Vindictive' Johnny lol Yeah - you're right I shouldnt really.... but I find it difficult to swallow that Wotte is seen as a nice and decent man by some who forget he has been at the centre of this fiasco since he arrived. JP failed due to Wotte and Lowe... that is a fact. Wotte is not the answer for me - I am not sure I can forgive him or Lowe for the inevitable relegation or disappointment of this season. Anyway, he slags the fans off once every 2 weeks or so - so I am quite entitled to remind him that what happens on the pitch is directly his fault. Even if he saves us I cannot support him as manager after the lack of judgement shown by him up until this point. I have always backed managers and always begged for consistency - I supported Harry and Burley for consistency until it was obvious that their will had been broken... I cannot support Wotte. He IS part of the farce.

I have always backed managers and always begged for consistency - I supported Harry and Burley for consistency until it was obvious that their will had been broken... I cannot support Wotte. He IS part of the farce. Because last season promised so much didnt it? He's got every right to slag the fans on. They are the most fickle set of supporters I have every seen and I've sat amongst them for years. All this protesting about how much they hate Lowe and how he's ruining our club... one win and its all forgotten about and smiles all round. I think he's got a right to point out some of our fans would be better served supporting the team inside the stadium than calling for the chairmans head. So we are now expected to believe that JP failed because of Lowe and Wotte and accept it at fact because you said so. JP failed with the same team and squad than Wotte has managed to get 9 points from the last 12 on offer. In fact, one could argue with the likes of Jack Cork and Alex Pearce the squad was more talented then. I actually didnt dislike JP but it became increasingly clear he wasnt willing to compromise on tactics which was clearly to the detriment of the club. Wotte has come in and addressed most of the issues, keeping things simple. Yes he seems to have the luxury of having Saga, Euell and Size for the run-in but I would argue only because the club have managed to save a considerable amount of oney from loaning out the likes of Rasiak, John and Dyer. What happens on the pitch is NOW directly his fault. Quite frankly, he has dont well since he came in. We've beaten Preston and Ipswich comfortably and ground out a win against Cardiff. We also ran Birmingham close in the last game and losing 1-0 to them in no disgrace.

Wotte and Lowe were the youth experiment - that IS a fact. JP worked to Wotte and Lowe. JP was under continous Club policy pressure to play youth under Wotte and Lowe. He therefore failed. Wotte comes in and now Club policy out of necessity - youth failed - has changed. Wotte was right to be slagged off by JP when he left. The goalposts have shifted for Wotte's tenure. Wotte/Lowe's policies caused failure - not just JPs lack of personality. Wotte and Lowe FAILED to give JP the tools he needed. That IS a fact.
