Rebel Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 For some strange reason none of the Skates at work have dared say anything to me in the last two days sure some people who have no understanding of football have taken the p*ss - but none of the Skates and not any other football fans either even had a Leeds fan offered me sympathy (and we don't exactly click) is it because the look in my eyes is a little bit like 'give me a reason.....!' or is it because only other fans can understand how we feel right now or maybe they are worried they're next - and are simply thinking but for a few points or maybe an overdraft it could be them right now
Toadhall Saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Same as that really - sat opposite one all day today and nothing was mentioned.
Mr saint Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I was wearing my Saints top today and went to my local newsagent. The guy who works there was wearing a Chelsea top and as he served me said something like "they're going into liquidation now aren't they" and he was kind of chuckling as he said it. Not wanting to waste my breath on him I just said "yeah sort of" trying to pay and get away from the footballing ignorance of him. Just as I was walking out the shop he went on to say how his son is loving it because he's been a Pompey fan since last season (Now's probably a good time to mention I live nowhere near Portsmouth.....and even further away from London/Chelsea). I literally just walked out without saying a word. Starting to wish I'd stayed and given him a right earful. Apart from that, everyone's been strangely nice to me about it too. Tac-tics Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I work with my mates who are skates, he was laughing all day and I sadi to him as seriously I could "back off". Walked in the kitchen and the mechanic was in fixing the freezer, joy be hold he was a skate chuckling on his phone about us, my manager raced in front of me and asked him to be careful what he says as I was not in the best of moods. This was what he honestly said "Mate, Im a proper Pompey fan and Im nto going to lie, I find it funny but all seriousness, your a great club, keep your head up and stick by them, youll appreciate the good times adn well come back bigger than ever" Now for a stranger who was bit chavy and a few years older to say this, took me buy surprise. St Marco Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 A few Skates i work with were more like "I would take the **** out of you but i think we will be in the same situation before long". Which is probably true. A lot of clubs will be in the same boat soon enough.
eurosaint Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 Reading this thread it sounds like the Skates are a lovely bunch of people after all ?????
Fan The Flames Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 I think there is more solidarity between fellow Hampshire boys under the surface than there is hatred. They might laugh about it, but they don't realy want to see us go bust. I would give them a donation if they really needed it.
SaintSparky Posted 2 April, 2009 Share Posted 2 April, 2009 When it comes down to it, any football fan; even of their biggest rivals; would not wish this on football fans of other clubs. If they are not football fans then they may well have a different view, and frankly if they do then it is not worth a breath in response as they clearly are worthless views from clueless worthless individuals who have no clue what so ever about what really matters in football. Can I assume that you returned half an hour later with a can of petrol and a match?!!!
