NickG Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 on radio solent, asked if likely he would come back leading a rescue package said it was unlikely as he didn't have the money and no-one has spoken to him. Went on to say if anyone out there wants him to help their bid in any way he will and he will do anything he can to save saints. pleaded with fans to sell out last three games. SoccerMom Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 Would be good if he could do something to keep the team's heads up - maybe a message to them tomorrow? I expect he'll be in the studio tomorrow, but a little phone call wouldn't hurt...

Saint Charlie Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 He should be more involved team wise than he is. Not as manager maybe, but in some capacity.

eelpie Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 Ask him if he will call in sick to Sky and turn up at SMS tomrrow. Best he stays at Sky and promotes the club. Can someone send Saint Robbie's thread to MLT and anyone associated with Saints to promote the selling of the club? Matt has a wonderful platform to do this on Sky. He only has to point out Saint Robbie's excellent list of reasons for buying the club. Quote:- "My starters for 10 to any investor: 1. Infrastructure of Premiership quality. 2. One of the most successful youth academies in the country - the best certainly in the South. 3. A family-oriented, hardly any trouble club with kids everywhere in the ground and a friendly atmosphere. 4. A marketable name abroad - THE SAINTS 5. THE BIGGEST SLEEPING FAN BASE in the South. 6. Tradition. 7. A dynamic red and white strip - marketable. 8. Superstar association - MLT, Shearer, Mick Channon... the list goes on. 9. A sound bunch of young players to build upon. 10. The ability to attract high quality managers (and now the potential to hold on to them with Lowe's removal) 11. Optimistic fan base once more." The Majestic Channon Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 Be nice if some ex players arranged fund raising events such as golf tournaments . I will be pretty ****ed off if the current players don't help out , surely they could all donate 1 or 2 weeks wages? i'm sure they will survive, how much does euell earn? 10k a week? don't know how they can sleep at night if they don't do something. Intresting to see mick channon's and terry paines views on our ex board in an article from mickchannon.com ARCHERS ROAD GIVES THE EX-SAINTS SOMETHING TO CHEERIt was ironic that on a dark day for Mick and so many of his former Southampton team mates that they should be taken on a trip down memory lane by a horse who carried the hopes of many a Sotonians in the opener at Leicester this afternoon. In his red and white silks, Archers Road took the opener at Leicester to lose his maiden tag after finishing second in the Brocklesby on Saturday. This all happened on the very day that Southampton Football Club's parent company entered into administration. Owned by John Webster, the President of the Ex-Saints Association, Archers Road is named after one of the famous ends of The Dell. The Titus Livius colt was given a hands and heels ride by Sam Hitchcott and prompted an immediate phone call to Hodcott House from South Africa. Terry Paine, Southampton's appearance record holder and Mick's boyhood hero picked out the colt with John and was on to offer his congratulations and commiserations in equal measure. "Terry just phoned to express his delight and dismay!" said Mick. "He lives in Johannesburg now, but we are in regular contact over the phone and like me he's disgusted that Saints are in such a state. How has it got so bad? As Painey said, what were the efforts of all the Ex-Saints over the last 40 years for? "A few egotistical men in suits have dismantled what Ted Bates and all of us who followed him acheived over three generations. It beggars belief that it's happened to the such a great club and certain people should hang their heads in shame."
