hamster Posted 14 May, 2009 Share Posted 14 May, 2009 Hi people. I am taking a minibus to Wembley for the play-off final between Gillingham and Shrewsbury on the 23rd. They want £25 to park at the stadium so if anyone knows of any SAFE on street parking within half an hours walk I would be really very grateful. Many thanks in anticipation. Ponty Posted 14 May, 2009 Share Posted 14 May, 2009 No legal street parking around but you can usually buy a day in someone's driveway for less than that on eBay. I did it for the Foo Fighters gig last summer and the people were brilliant, they even offered us the use of their toilet before and after the gig. hamster Posted 14 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 14 May, 2009 Ive just had to log on to ebay to check. What a bl00dy good idea. I would never have thought to look for that on ebay. Some chap on there (Ajay) must have mde a fortune over the years. Good on him. Just checked his feedback and he's selling about £200 worth a month. Easy money, but we can park at the actual stadium for £25. Being a tight sod, I would still rather get it for nout if possible, or if we're paying a, pub car park would be better. Thanks so far Mars and Ponty. EDIT, just spoke to one of the group and we may now be going in 2 cars.
Nexstar Posted 14 May, 2009 Share Posted 14 May, 2009 Ikea, can generally find a space without waiting too long and is free. Probably takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the stadium, but basically just straight down one road from which you get a great view of Wembley
John Boy Saint Posted 14 May, 2009 Share Posted 14 May, 2009 Went there last Sunday for the F A Vase, I had the all clear to park outside a customers warehouse tucked away round the back of of the trading estate. But when I turned up there were cars everywhere parked inconsiderately, so decided to bite the bullet and drove up to the stadium to see parking at £25! the Adult match ticket was only £20. So we decided to park on Second Way 200 yrds from the stadium outside a warehouse with one of the street parking cowboys, they charged £10 were all immensely polite and gave me a numbered "official" ticket and receipt and made sure that we put the ticket in the windscreen. My car was still there along with everyone elses, there were a couple of Mini buses there too.
LGTL Posted 14 May, 2009 Share Posted 14 May, 2009 To be fair, if there is a minibus full, is £25 too bad? could only turn out to be a few quid each? Depends on numbers though I suppose.
UniS Posted 15 May, 2009 Share Posted 15 May, 2009 You can park outside my house if you want. It's a 40 minute walk though. Or the bus can be free, if you're clever.

How nice of you, cheers. Can I PM you if need be please UniS? Can I just clarify that you do not live in Guildford though? Cheers PS ould you explaiun the free bus too, I am curious re the 'clever' bit.
UniS Posted 17 May, 2009 Share Posted 17 May, 2009 I'm not in Guildford at the moment... There are plenty of spaces along the road in Perivale (try Bilton Road for a start), and the 297 bus goes along there every ten minutes and can drop you almost right outside the door. It's a pretty quiet area here, and there's plenty of street parking. The 'clever' bit is basically fare dodging, but it's only 90p or whatever with an Oyster card anyway so not really worth the hassle...
hamster Posted 23 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 23 May, 2009 Unis, I forgot to thank you. Thank you. Took a while to get off the A40 due to an accident, but little hassle and a nice area by the looks of it. Cheers mate, a good day all round.
