spyinthesky Posted 18 May, 2009 Share Posted 18 May, 2009 Had friends down at the weekend to join a cruise ship. They were impressed with the Saints Trust banners in W Quay and those on roundabouts in the City (notice one has been nicked at Lordshill!!) Notice the banners were shown as a backdrop to a piece (on Euro elections) shown on BBC South this evening. Made me feel a degree of pride in these difficult times
rocknrollman no2 Posted 18 May, 2009 Share Posted 18 May, 2009 I have to pass those banners on the way to work and even though we are already down,i still like seeing them. Put more up for next season i say(if we are still here).
StuRomseySaint Posted 18 May, 2009 Share Posted 18 May, 2009 I looked into the advertising on them banners for a couple of projects I have, they were around the £1000 mark EACH lamp, and much more for the City Centre ones and traffic lights on West Quay Road! How did the Saints Trust get that sort of money from their 30 paid up membership fees?

Perhaps they were at a good price to give some free publicity but alos showing advertisers how effective they are.

Still, there are at least 10 of the things! About 20k in advertising! Surely not for free?!?! Their 30 paid up members must be loaded, why have they not bid for Southampton?
The Saint Posted 18 May, 2009 Share Posted 18 May, 2009 I too looked at the advertising options for Lordshill roundabout and concluded it was very expensive. Surely there must have been some financial help to get the signs put up. I have to say I like them!
Chez Posted 19 May, 2009 Share Posted 19 May, 2009 shhhhh, the Saints Trust may have sneaked them up without anyone looking
Mole Posted 19 May, 2009 Share Posted 19 May, 2009 According to Illingsworth once you become a member you are counted as a member for life. It makes no difference if you don't renew. Does it say this on the small print?

The9 Posted 19 May, 2009 Share Posted 19 May, 2009 Funnily enough I saw them as a symbol of a fresh start in our battle against relegation as they went up (I think) before the Charlton game. I'm starting to get a bit sick of seeing them around now there's a chance they might actually outlast the club.
James_O_Mac Posted 20 May, 2009 Share Posted 20 May, 2009 the trust probably got a dirt cheap deal considering the effect on the local economy if the club does go under
