saintjay77 Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 I thought he wanted off? I dont get why the OS is still putting stories up about him if he wants to be playing somewhere else next season. For many reasons he hasnt done much for us since we signed him up. Now he wants to be gone the OS are seemingly praising him up. Its not like we will get any money for him is it? I thought he was told he can go on a free if he finds a new club.

I thought he was told he can go on a free if he finds a new club. It's the most satirical (and cutting) headline I've ever seen on the OS. Saganowski is spectacularly good at missing the target by inches. It's a surprise when a shot actually goes on target. Indeed, his goals to shots-on-target ratio is pretty decent
alpine_saint Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 Mebbe the new owners want to persuade him to stay? I would argue that for the reason you have given, or for other as-of-yet unspecified reasons, the situation is far from a foregone conclusion. saintjay77 Posted 10 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 10 June, 2009 Mebbe the new owners want to persuade him to stay? Did I miss an announcement? the owners present or future might want him to stay but he has said he doesnt want to play league 1 football so he is looking for another club. Kelvin has said he wants to stay so IMO he deserves the support that the OS are giving Saga more. I also doubt that the possible new owners will have been in to see the OS team and let them know to big up saga to try and convince him to stay either. I suppose it kinda shows how little the OS has to do these days. They have to be seen to be doing something but they are probably restricted in the news that they can publish so are stuck with talking about the players that dont want to be here any more. They could have just posted nothing, as they frequently did when Lowe was too busy to write the copy. Why dont you drop your petty crusade against our best current striker ? LOL I comment on the OS publishing stories about a player that doesnt want to be here and probably wont be here while you "Claim" Lowe wrote the stories on the OS and I have a petty Crusade? Give it up Alps Rupes has gone. Its old news. History. There is no need for this thread to go into that debate so why bother?
saintjay77 Posted 10 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 10 June, 2009 And for the recored when was Saga our best striker? Many including myself wanted him to be number 1 but he only really showed he could be when he was on Loan to us. What has he shown here or anywhere else that puts him so high in your rankings? Arizona Posted 10 June, 2009 Share Posted 10 June, 2009 I think Saga could tear most L1 defences a new one, given decent service and a partner who suits his style, i.e. big lump to play off. I'd say he is very much like Surman in that when the teams plays well, he is awesome, but when the team doesn't perform, he goes missing. Everyone knows what he can do, I'd be inclined to try and get it out of him IF he were to stay, rather than just cast him aside off hand.

I agree with you in that IF he were to stay he could do really well with the right service in League 1. If it was my choice I would keep him with us but if he wants gone then I dont see what good it does anyone to big him up. Im sure McGoldrick, BWP, Mule, Patterson and the other nipper who got injured last season when looking promising will do well in league 1 too so its not as if we are desperate for Saga to stay. His wages alone probably set us up better if he does go. Rasiak has been far more prolific for us in his time with us but it seems its Saga that gets the attention??? Can't we just dupe him into believing he's on loan with us and playing for a contract ? It was the only time he actually did anything to justify his original hype... frustrating as hell, even he must know he's capable of more.

Scored 3 in 3 starts at the start of the 07/08 season. He can do it, it just comes in fits and starts.

I think in his loan spell with us he looked the business but even though those stats look good he has always seemed to miss allot considering his chances. Still think he could be a bloody good player for us but I think its a fair comment to look at his loan spell as probably the best time with us so far. You would hope that a player going from Champions League matches to the Championship might make a bit of an impact if only for his elevated sharpness and fitness levels. Took him about 6 weeks to get back into his rut then...
spank_182 Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 They've already said he's far too expensive for us now. What's the point of the new owners (if any) paying over the odds again when that's what got us in this state in the first place? Probably just showing that's he's playing internationally for a half ok team to get a bit of interest in him from other clubs.
redorwhitelion Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 If Saints want rid of him, what better way than to maintain as high a profile for him as possible.
Arizona Posted 11 June, 2009 Share Posted 11 June, 2009 Maybe this is just a glimpse of an unbiased OS with no particular agenda. Understandable that it would throw so many people after the last few years of Glavlit.
saintjay77 Posted 11 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 11 June, 2009 LOL I think im just looking at it like I think managers should look at things. Managers used to make players go and train with the kids when they wernt interested so by that phylosophy I think that if a player wants to be gone then he should get the cold shoulder and almost forgotten. If he cant sort his life out himself and wants back in he needs to work his socks off to re-join the team. IMO the whole club should follow the same kind of plan so going on with a love in for a player that doesnt want to be here just seems a bit wierd. Would be nice to have an OS that posts all info about our club weather it be fact or speculation though. Thats supposed to be the one place to go for all things saints yet we get more info on here. Saints67 Posted 12 June, 2009 Share Posted 12 June, 2009 I believe the OS are writing stories about Saga as he is still a Saints player and he's more than likely the only one still playing football and not sunning himself on a beach. As for the the OS posting stories containing speculation i think the media outlets (eg Sky Sports News) would have a field day if rumour and gossip appeared on it. Leave that to the tabloids and forums.
