The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Lord Duckhunter replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Hoisted with her own petard, springs to mind. It was her who designed a fiscal lock' law to ensure any government budget decisions can no longer bypass scrutiny by the Office for Budget Responsibility. She constantly criticised Tories who made the very point you’re making. She’s so far out of her depth it’s embarrassing, and to think we’ve got 4 more years of this clown show, god knows where we’ll be by then. Weak, weak, weak. Starmer and her need to be moved on… -
Why would it annoy me, it’s a great song. I’ve got Carole Kings demo on my CK play list. The TV show was shite, but the music great. Great writers & The Wrecking Crew, what’s not to like. The Rutles were close to my top 10 anyway, Neil Innes was brilliant, and Eric Idols piss take of McCartney was genius imo…

In office but not in power… -
Unusual choice. Funnily enough I nearly had the track that fades into Sun King as one of mine. “You never give me your money”, but went Golden Slumbers instead, mainly because it literally led to The End…. Interesting that 3 people picked different Beatles tracks from the same album and imo it’s not even their best one…

There’s an argument to be had as to who deserves PIP & I’m sure we’d be at different ends of that debate. But the fundamental principles of a welfare state is that it should be based on need, not timing. It’s quite shocking that a labour government is undermining that principle and that hundreds of labour MP’s will vote it through. For what end, to satisfy the OBR & for political purposes. As shameful and immoral as anything Boris ever did. -

I wonder what Starmers defenders will say about the welfare bill they’re proposing tonight. The one that treats people with the same disability differently based on when they were diagnosed. By definition, it’ll end up accepting people need help with day to day living, but then deny them that help. God, imagine if Tories proposed this, yet the usual suspects will still be trotting out the usual lines. Their caring principles shown up for what they really are. Movable… -
Dorking Wanderers manager has received a touchline ban of 6 games for a comment he made about women referees parking 😂😂. Obviously, there are more women referees now, so you have to pay a bit more respect. Do you know what I mean? You have to pay a bit more respect like… help them park.“

I’d have thought Sunak & Hunt would have probably managed decline a bit better than Starmer & Reeves are. Increasing NICS & her first budget did incredible harm to the economy and they’ve never really recovered from that cluster fuck. It’s only going to get worse, because Reeves will be back for more taxes and increased borrowing despite promising she wouldn’t, and I doubt he’ll be smashing the gangs anytime soon. It takes a special kind of incompetence to be so unpopular and so hamstrung a year into a landslide, but he’s somehow managed it. He’s a dud, a plodder who was over promoted because he wasn’t Corbyn. If they don’t bin him soon, he’ll hand the next election to Nigel on a plate…. -

There’s plenty of in fighting, Sue gray anyone, and they’re now briefing left right and centre. It’s been a complete and utter shambles from Lord Alli & winter fuel through “Island of strangers”, to the latest cock up where it looks like we could have 2 tier PIP benefits, with 2 people with the same disability receiving different levels of support depending on when they were diagnosed. A Government with a 100 plus majority that can’t get this small fiscal measure through parliament is a dead duck. What ever you and other lefties try and pretend , you know deep down that this has been far far worse than you ever thought it would be. Incompetence & muddled thinking right from the very start. The bloke and Reeves are completely out of their depth and the party needs to ditch both to have any chance of a re set…. -
