As I said…unpopular 😂 I’m not sure a tight promotion end to the season would have been a particularly nice environment to bring in a 17 year old when quality players like Brooks were available. Diblings performances this season don’t immediately translate into last seasons games so it’s not as simple as saying ‘he’s good now so should have been playing last year’. I also don’t think many managers would be trusting an 18 year old and a young kid in Fernandes in their first season in the prem when their job is slipping away. Especially more so I don’t think many would set the team up for them to be central to it. Dibling has played more minutes than any other 18 year old in the league this year. He’s obviously very good and one of our better players but I don’t see many other managers trusting their talented kids like Martin is and I think the way we play allows them both to play their natural games rather than something against their nature like a Sean Dyche (just an example) team would. Anyway, it’s unpopular and unprovable so I’ll just let it get shouted down and stop there and I’ll bring it back up when the manager does change and we’ll see how any new way of playing suits them.

You’re right I didn’t read them but there’s a difference between that plan and this which I did spot from Farmer which seems a perfectly valid business plan. ‘But where the strategy seems to be that we covered our bases financially to mean relegation doesn't matter, I guess we'll just have to suffer longer.’
-
I find it bizarre anyone would think this is the plan and the same goes for anyone who suggests "get someone in now so we can prepare for next season". Completely forgetting the last time we were in this position we sacked 2 managers by the end of the season in an attempt to stay up and then sacked the 3rd because he too had lost a lot of games. I don't think the owners would be afraid to make that call if they felt it was right, for whatever reason they obviously don't think it is right at this stage (presumably because unlike those 3 managers, this manager is still clearly getting good buy in from the players).
-
The reason being the manager he signed under was sacked pretty quickly after he joined, the new manager wasn't very good and nor was PO and then last summer he wanted to leave to go on loan and then this summer back to the club he was on loan at. It's not some massive in justice just because he did a couple of nice turns on Sunday.
-
This will be unpopular but I'm not convinced either would be playing so regularly under another regime.
-
When people say this what do they actually mean out of interest? Cant be arsed to get into a debate about the team btw, just what's the math behind this?
-
He didn't say that, so thats the plus side.
-
Fair enough, my bad.
-
There is very few of our squad that have played PL football and not been relegated by the way.
-
Yes, they are both solely responsible for the points they have gained in the PL and there are simply no other factors to be considered for either of them. It's a perfectly valid comparison and well done you for spotting it.
-
If you actually read/watch the long form answer on this in the press conference he explains that he tells his players to play quickly and needs to do better explaining when to do that because that obviously isn't the right time to do it. But again, as Lighthouse explained on here, why anyone needs that explaining let alone an experienced keeper like McCarthy is baffling and I suspect he'll be dropped again the moment Ramsdale is fit because Martin will think it's insane too. But if you want to live in a world where every mistake McCarthy now makes is purely Martin based then good for you my friend.

Hi. Are you able to make sense of what he's saying? A player demanding to leave after he played a part in our relegation is less damaging than the manager who helped get us promoted the year after?
-
Hello, happy to put forward any defence you like if it settles your nerves. Have until the end of MNF so put in your requests. Headline news will be we played well yesterday, I still believe not everything is one mans fault and removing him wont make much of a difference. Any other of my greatest hits you want me to play?
-
Sorry, did you not watch the game yesterday ffs? I can understand the frustration most of the weeks but you won't find many teams being 2-1 up against top of the table after an hour this season.
-
Chelsea away? Was there a header against West Ham that hit the bar or cleared off the line or something as well?
-
Because he's protecting the player like any good manager would do? His actions of dropping him and signing a replacement are pretty big indicators of what he really thinks.
-
What is the closest he's come to scoring for us out of interest? Anyone remember? (This is a genuine question, not a dig)
-
If it's a basic mistake it probably shouldn't be made whatever system or manager you have in place. I can find you examples of McCarthy making basic mistakes pre Martin and his system if you like?
-
The difference with McCarthy going long was unlike the goal he had plenty of time to take a touch and find a player but was rushed into smacking long by a crowd that got increasingly agitated every time we completed a pass near our own goal. Martin also had a go at Sugawara for doing the same late on and THB was consistently having a go at others for doing it throughout the game.
-
100% correct. The hatred for Martin on here is tying people up in knots. Probably the other way too admittedly but the desire to throw everything that happens at Martins feet is insane. Heard people coming out of the ground saying it was such an unlike Martin performance yesterday it’s proof we don’t need him because we played well. Then on here it’s considered a typical Martin fuck up that we didn’t win. The lad can’t breathe without it being the sole reason we’re losing. The lack of consideration for players doing stupid shit, some of whom have done it two (and arguably more) seasons in a row in this league is incredible.
-
Different managers, different players, similar mistakes. Almost as if it’s not tactics based and more down to bad decision making.
-
The first one is an example of poor decision making and silly mistakes and I hate to break it to you but that has never and will never be specific to Martin or any particular tactic.
-
I’m frustrated because I’d like to see us do better, obviously. But I’m also realistic in that I didn’t expect it to be too much different and even more so when you consider our lack of quality in certain areas. I’m also not using every single thing that happens as an excuse to wet myself with fury and have a pop at one particular bloke.
-
This is 100% true though. It’s a very bizarre British fans mentality thing.
