  1. Decent shot from Lallana but straight at the keeper. How can it be a decent shot if it's straight at the keeper? No'ton have a decent set piece chance after a silly foul by Morgan. Cleared by Thomas. They get in behind us again but nothing comes of it.
  2. Working fine but quite a few buffering jumps. techie head on - if you're getting the google search page (and potentially for the other issues) it will most likely be your ISP having cached the Saintsfc.co.uk DNS record. Not much Saints can do about that. Turn off 'search from address bar' to confirm the DNS lookup failure.
  3. Sounds like we're not really getting enough players forwards. Paterson puts a header wide from a James freekick
  4. Iris bat ewe nose = I is batty you knows? Crouchie's Lawyer is just trying to say he's lost it
  5. But that's imply avoided by having different turnstiles for cash sales and ticket holders. Gotta be a police / FA thing.
  6. They've done pay on the gate for friendlies and youth team matches so I'm guessing it's a police / FA requirement for competative matches.
  7. Oh god does that mean that every time he's in the press and it describe him as the ex-chairman of Southampton FC we're going to have another bloody pointless thread about him. It's not so much licking old wounds as jabbing them with hot knitting needles.
  8. It's got a kick off countdown running (3 hours and 47 minutes to go) so I guess so.
  9. Paraphrasing... "Northampton is a tough game for us because any professional side coming to Saint Mary's is a tough game for us. We're not ready yet. We need a bit more quality and a bit more calss. The signing of Rickie Lambert goes someway towards that - the owners have expressed their intent and shown their hand. He was destined for the championship but we stopped that. With Rickie we just need to put the ball in the right place and he will score for us. Come to Northampton and see him make his debut."
  10. Working fine for me now on a couple of machines (it wasn't this morning). Maybe try clearing your temporary internet files?
  11. Now working for me at last - they uploaded a new version half an hour back.
  12. They had a copy in my local newsagent - that doesn't really help anyone outside of Holloway though
  13. Yeah I was wondering whetehr it would be better to try and get a gelling team or to rest players. I think we have to rest Thomas - he's fragile and unless we sign a.n. other centre back before Saturday I can't see the point in risking him in the cup. Maybe a good point to give the rest of the back five another game together though. I'm not sure about up front - I'd say that Lambert and Paterson should be our first choice partnership but with Pato going off with fatigue on Saturday I'd like to gradually ramp up his fitness before asking him to play twice in 4 days. Saga's on international duty and Rasiak seems to be off so White is the only one left. Central midfield I agree that a Morgan Gillett partnership might be the best long term solution (although I do like the look of Gobern). So my revised line up: Davis Murty Perry Lancashire Harding Thomson Gillett Schneiderlin Holmes White Lambert
  14. Bloody hell do some people just have news alert set up to pick up any inconsquential dribble of news about our ex-chairman? He's history guys - get over it!
  15. That means nothing - Pulis was on the bench
  16. Normally I'm all for any cup competition, but I really think this is a bit of a distraction this year. Probably treat it as a bit of a reserve match with the exception of Lambert. So... Bart James Perry Lancaster Molyneaux Thomson Gillett Gobern Holmes White Lambert
  17. I think White has a great future - not sure he's ready for a regular first team slot yet but maybe a run out alongside Lambert tomorrow night?
  18. Very interesting - particularly this bit "You lost a few pounds in weight during pre-season. How much of a factor do you think that played in you having such a great season? M Collins, England It has played a massive part in my season. I lost a stone by just cutting down on fatty foods. It has helped my mobility and I feel a lot, lot better this season because of my diet. There's also been a lot of work in the gym and I've been looking after myself better." Pretty much explains why last season was so spectacular. We need to make sure he stays away from the pies!
  19. Should have been retired when Matt retired. Meaningless to retire it now - unless you mean retiring it in memory of Skacel?
  20. Someone who nows how to kick a football very hard in the direct of a goal. Bloody perfect
  21. You're right to say smaller... Attendances in League 1 Brighton 0 - 1 Walsall - 6504 Bristol Rovers 1 - 2 Leyton Orient -7745 Carlisle 1 - 3 Brentford - 6367 Charlton 3 - 2 Wycombe - 16552 Gillingham 5 - 0 Swindon - 6852 Leeds United 2 - 1 Exeter - 27681 MK Dons 0 - 0 Hartlepool - 8965 Norwich 1 - 7 Colchester - 25217 Oldham 0 - 0 Stockport - 6918 Southampton 1 - 1 Millwall - 20103 Southend 2 - 2 Huddersfield - 8059 Yeovil 2 - 0 Tranmere - 4349 We had the third highest attendance in the league on Saturday. There're maybe a few thousand stayed away because it was on telly but balance that with the 'first match of new season optimism' effect and I reckon if we have a good season then 20000 average attendence will be a a very good result over the season. And yet still you're complaining the ground Unless you're trying to argue that there are thousands of people boycotting because the wings are closed then opening them will just spread that 20k more thinly around the stadium. How that would create an more intimadatory atomosphere is beyond me. The real problem is that we just don't sing enough when things are going badly. Opening the wings is just a side issue that people find it easier to argue about than addressing the real issues.
  22. Ummm since when were the wings behind the goal mouth? Surely opening the wings would mean fewer people behind the goals not more? I'm all for reopening the wings but your logic seems a touch flawed.
  23. Back to the OP I have to agree that the atmosphere was good until Millwall equalised. Arguments about who sings where and whether we need more songs are immaterial to the fact that as soon as Millwall scored we stopped singing. From that point on where I was sat in the Kingsland south all I could hear was Millwall. I'm not saying we're crap fans, I just think we've been collectively shellshocked by the last couple of seasons. The moment that goal went in (in fact possibly from the moment we conceded the penalty) it was as if we all thought to ourselves 'here we go again' and were just waiting for Millwall to score again and again. Pardew said that the team had forgotten how to win matches, I think the crowd has as well.
  24. On the plus side that's two of our bogey games (first match of the season and televised to boot) out of the way in one go and we got a point out of it. It's all uphill from here
