oops mea culpa - Mods please kill this thread

On the Alan Pardew post the interviewer says to Alan "I've spoken to Nicola Corteses who says we might be able to spring us a few surprizes for supporters in the next few weeks" Assuming that he means signings then it's good that the board is talking about new signings as well as the manager.
-
Thought so at the time but watching it back when they just showed it on MOTD I think he can be absolved of blame.
-
I think Gobern deserves a mention. When he came on I wasn't sure where he was going to play and I don't think he did either. But he stuck with it and carved out some chances while giving us a more physical presense than we had before.
-
That sounds like a pretty good prediction for this year. Maybe you're just far sighted
-
Don't think Gunn's the right man for Norwich, he did virtually nothing to arrest their decline last season winning just 5 of 19 compared to Roeders 7 from 27. Can't see any of the demoted sides winning the championship so you have to go for the best of the sides that missed out on promotion last time. I know they finished 5th but they made the play off final so it's Millwall for me.

Someone gets slated for starting a thread on how much he loves Southampton? Sometimes I do wonder whether I've strayed on to a Skate board by mistake. I love Southampton. Anyone who doesn't is in the wrong place
-
Look at how long it ook to get Murty's signature. I'm not worried yet.
-
I guess we have a deadline then Friday 11:59am announcement anyone?
-
When do players need to have signed by in order to play on Saturday?
-
Sad to say it makes sense - I can't imagine we'll have much more than 11,000 there. Unless of course we beat Millwall 6-0
-
Of course the problem with a story like this is that it leaves me spending all day looking at the OS and the Echo every five minutes looking for the news that he's signed...
-
That's where I see him. Running around in front of our back four breaking up the opposition play and then distributing the ball to the attacking midfeilders. Wish he were a little taller but I reckon he can compensate for the lack of height with his mobility.
-
Decent enough write up on the Woking site http://www.wokingfc.co.uk/news/article/1551/ Thomson does like his long distance shots.
-
An excellent signing if it all comes through. I'm slightly concerned by a lack of pace, but if we can get Gillett tracking back and buzzing around we should have a pretty tight defense. Already feeling a lot more optimistic about Millwall!

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~1742101,00.html Intersting ath Henderson is expecting Holmes, Thomson, Molyneaux and Gobern to be trying to impress Pardew. But not Pulis.
-
Unless we sign a centreback I can't see us keeping a clean sheet with Thomas injured. And I can't see us scoring with a pair of want away strikers. Saints 0 - 2 Millwall I hope I'm wrong
-
Sorry should we buy the entire Barcelona squad instead?
-
Na, if this board is anything to go by the typical Saints fan would find some reason to complain if we'd just signed the entire Real Madrid squad. I can see it now
-
Yeah sorry after a fair few pints all I can do is type not paraphrase

To quote AP "The players this week I took them away because they had been at the training ground for far too long for a professional side. We had three days of a bit of bonding, a bit of sport, a lot of work on the team. We had a little bit of a superstars event which the staff won. And that worries me. So err but we will defend it and if the team don't win it next time then we are really in trouble"
-
You fail to mention that apparently they had a 'Superstars' competion between players and staff on a team building break over the last few days. And that the staff won. Alan is rightly worried by this!
-
Ryan Smith was always a decent player. I saw him for Arasenal way back and was impressed. Delighted when we signed him and bemused when we released him. I took 3 neutrals to the Charlton home game last season all of whom thought he was probably our best outfield player in a dire match. However he has failed at too many clubs, I don't know what it is about him, I'd guess attitude - thinking he's better than he is, but I don't expect him to ever fufil his potential.

My favourite bit from the interview: "Those of us who are Southampton supporters" Bless you Saint Kelvin
