  1. 2 people who've managed at this level and have excellent reputations as coaches? Where's the lack of ambition there? Okay so it's not Sven as director of football but do we really want that?
  2. Paul Ince knew a fair proportion of the players at MK dons from his last spell there so had to spend less time establishing what he had at his disposal. Plus of course MK Dons hadn't just emerged from administration. Even so do you mean if we sign 7 players in the next week you'll be happy? Do you promise to shut up about it until then? Please say yes!
  3. You know what all those other teams have in common? They've all had a manager in place for more than a fortnight. I'm concerned we haven't bought anyone - but not so concerned that I feel the need to start yet another thread on the subject. Can't the mods just make one of the "we haven't bought anyone let's all panic" threads a sticky and lock the others?
  4. This is about the third relauch for this. I used to buy it before it last went belly up - not the greatest but only way any of us exiles from Southampton are ever going to get a write up of any Southampton games the old fashioned way.
  5. Bloody hell, the people running the Saints' player are more illiterate than the posters on here!
  6. just go to http://www.saintsfc.co.uk great big ad for it on the splash page
  7. And we have the lead singer from Belle and Sebastian as goalkeeping coach. A bit of a radical departure...
  8. So where does this leave Saints TV? I note that this comes out the day I get my 'auto renewal' notice from that.
  9. For me it was just after coming so close to obilivion I couldn't face the idea that I mighy never get the chance again.
  10. Now the future of Southampton FC appears secure should Southampton Saints be brought back under the wing of the club? Women's football in Southampton has had a long and glorious history winning the FA Cup 8 times (still a record I think?). I don't know the full story of the decline but I do remember them being in the top flight of women's football when we were in the Premiership, while now they seem to be languishing in the 4th tier. Should Liebherr be dipping into his pocket to revitalise both the FA Cup winning sides of 1976?
  11. A bit of a myth surely? During their last European run they averaged under 29 thousand for their home legs in a stadium that houses over 52 thousand. I know our last European run was a little shorter, but 30,557 watched our draw with Steua, and we at least filled Saint Mary's while Saint James was only 55% full. They are a well supported side with a hardcore who'll turn out in their thousands for the unveiling of a new ball boy, but they are just fans. Newcastle 1 (0) - 1(1) Lillestrom 31,059 Newcastle 0 (0) - 0(0) Ventspils 30498 Newcastle 2 (0) - 1(0) Levadia Tallinn 27,012 Newcastle 1 (0) - 0(0) Fenerbahce 30035 Newcastle 2 (1) - 1(1) Celta Vigo 25079 Newcastle 1 (0) - 0(0) Waregem 30083 Newcastle 4 (4) - 2(1) AZ Alkmaar 28452
  12. Are you the (other) bloke in a Saints shirt I've seen around Holloway then? I ended up stalking someone all the way from Saint Mary's to the Waitrose there a couple of seasons ago. I would also be in the Arsenal camp if worse had come to worse. But it would never have been the same.
  13. Good to see White in the squad - from what I've seen of him he looks a good player but has had a dreadful time with injuries.
  14. I'm pretty sure England have already won the world cup so I'll go for Saints winning the Premier League please. After we do that in 2012 then it's England's turn
  15. Personally I'd rather wait while AP get's the right team in place - which may involve negotiations with other clubs that we can do nothing to hurry along - than just go down the job centre and hire the first person with a coaching badge he sees there.
  16. being twunked by Ajax and being twunked by Salisbury are perhaps 2 different thing
  17. Hmmm I don't read it that way at all...
  18. Performances in friendlies like that against Ajax can only really be judged on the first half. After that the shape is disrupted by substitutions. In the first half we scored a good goal and conceded a dubious penalty. To be honest we did better tha I expected!
  19. Cheers for the updates Pilchards. How are the players reacting to all this shouting and whistles?
  20. Both could be useful squad players in League 1. However I hope that we build towards the future - and these guys aren't it!
  21. 1.3 billion for a decent side? You could get sixteen and a half Ronaldos for that! And to actually answer the question heart says play offs, head says lower mid table
  22. He's done some nice business over the years, Harewood in for 500k out for 4 million. Nigel Reo-Coker in for 500k out for 8.5 million, Paul Konchesky in for 1.5 mill - out for 3.5 mill. There's a few duds but nothing on the Delgado scale on the whole I'd say that was a pretty impressive transfer record.
  23. Under the circumstances a damned good appointment. Just a slight worry that he might be lured by the bright lights as he was when he left Reading.
  24. Sky will be kicking themselves when they decide not to televise our 5-0 thrashing of Man U in the third round of the FA cup
