  1. True. This is the first time for 90 years that Scotland have won 6 consecutive games and Che is spearheading the team.
  2. I've been quite impressed by what I've seen of him so far, so there are some grounds for optimism. It will be interesting to see how he does when he gets his first Premier League start.
  3. As another one bites the dust, I wonder if more managers have been sacked after losing to us than to any other team.
  4. Block 43, directly behind the goal, used to be left empty for fan segregation. Now, it's been given to away fans. The fan segregation zone now is just half of Block 42, as it was for the Leeds game.
  5. Brilliant. I still can't stop smiling after reading that again.
  6. And the left hand (the dinosaur's claw under the pumpkin-shaped ball) is much bigger than the right. To fit all of those comic details into one statue has to be world class comedy.
  7. C.B Fry was the best all-round sportsman in the world. "Charles Fry was probably the most variously gifted Englishman of any age." John Arlott.
  8. Vestergaard and Bertrand were Leicester's worst rated players again (they are every time they play). "Jannik Vestergaard: Even in the middle of a back three where he has more protection, his lack of mobility is exposed": Leicester City player ratings v Brighton: Barnes and Lookman take their chance in cup success - Leicestershire Live (leicestermercury.co.uk)
  9. Forster was MOTM. Chelsea had 14 shots on target. If McCarthy had been in goal, we'd have lost that game comfortably, at least 3-1.
  10. We look so much better without McCarthy and Walcott. They are our two big weak links. Unfortunately, Ralph brought Walcott on.
  11. Tuchel is obviously taking this match very seriously. The bulk of his team featured in their 7-0 league win on Saturday: 5 in the starting lineup and 3 as subs.
  12. True. The way McCarthy plays it certainly looks like that. The last Saints goalkeeper I can recall who was quite that bad was the one we signed from Wolves after putting 9 goals past him: Dave MacLaren.
  13. McCarthy is a League One goalkeeper, at best. He is easily the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League and that alone is probably enough to see us relegated in spite of the fact we have great players like Livramento and Broja, who would grace any top six team.
  14. Burnley haven't won any of their last 14 Premier League games. It's half a year since they last won a league game. They are in the bottom 3 and almost certain to be relegated. About the only team with a worse record than theirs in that period is...? Today, we made them look good. Drawing at home against them is as bad as drawing at home against Norwich. That has to be a massive wake up call. No more Walcott; no more McCarthy; KWP at right back, Livramento right midfield, Stuart Armstrong starting alongside him, Broja as our main striker with all of our other players instructed to get the ball to him at every opportunity - it's time to cut the cr@p.
  15. Saint-Maximin is one of the nicest people in football: a brilliant footballer and an absolute diamond geezer. Newcastle are very lucky to have him in their team.
  16. Like you, even though I made the sugggestion, I'm ambivalent about bands too. I also hate the England band and the Pompey bandstand was embarrassing but our Saints band is something different. I've been surprised and impressed by how they've galvanized our crowd before kick-off at recent games. It might be worth experimenting with them in the Chapel for one game, like an early round of the League Cup, for example, just to see what effect they have. If they got the Chapel, supposedly our home end, singing it would certainly improve the atmosphere because right now the only team with an end at St Mary's is the away team, although with so few Burnley fans coming, we might, temporarily at least, see a return to how it was in League One and the Championship, with most of the Northam, including the block behind the goal, full of home fans.
  17. It works well enough in Brazil and there's not much else going on in the Chapel, is there? It would also motivate our team a lot more than songs about hating Pompey do at the moment.
  18. They are really good and they have such a positive influence on the atmosphere before kick-off that they deserve a spot in the Chapel during the game. It's about time we had a proper home end and they could be the catalyst for it.
  19. There is a lot of confusion among TV commentators and pundits about how to pronounce his name so I did an online search to find an Albanian pronouncing it and it is pronounced: BROYA, a bit like Phil Boyer.
  20. I thoroughly enjoyed that! I think we're going to see a lot more goals from Broja.
  21. We certainly haven't tapped much of our potential. It's surprising how large our fanbase is worldwide. Obviously, we are not one of the big 6 put we are close to the top of the rest. In terms of size of fanbase, we are one of the clubs you'd expect to be at least mid-table in the top flight. Leicester's fanbase was certainly smaller than ours before they started winning trophies and it's winning trophies which produces sizeable increases in the size of fanbases. • Premier League Facebook followers 2019 statistic | Statista Which Premier League Club has the most Twitter followers? - Football Kit News
  22. And all that money is sitting in Kat's Swiss bank account. Her bank balance was the only thing that was taken to the next level. She really took Gao to the cleaners.
  23. My first away game was at Crystal Palace in 1965 when Selhurst Park was one of the last grounds to have the new luxury of concrete terracing covering all sides. The top half of the away end was still just a grass bank which turned to mud when it rained. Before my time, a lot of grounds just used natural slopes because concrete terracing was too expensive, and so were roofs, which meant away ends were nearly always uncovered. This was Barcelona's Nou Camp: e8289a513d129cca256c0695a1b62e28.jpg (600×338) (pinimg.com) My first trip to Anfield wasn't until 1971, on a football special train. On the route to the ground, we walked through a narrow alleyway with high walls, and the local kids lobbed house bricks over the walls at us. When we got inside the ground, I started to sing OWTS. I'm quite tall and so stood out. Immediately 2 local coppers dived in, grabbed me and told me to "shut up." They only wanted to hear Liverpool fans sing. One of the other Saints fans I went up with went in the Kop because he wanted to experience it. He came back after the game quite excited by it all. (182) Liverpool FC - The Kop Crowd - YouTube
  24. "You're all f---ing racist c-nts" at the Hungarian players." The best Hungarian player was incidentally black. I was at Wembley the last time England played Hungary, in 2010. There were more Hungarian fans there then and no crowd problems whatsoever. Now, anybody from any Eastern European country and perhaps almost any European country gets their national anthem booed and is subjected to abuse at Wembley. I also heard f---ing Frogs and f---ing Krauts mentioned in a nearby conversation (if the word blacks had been used they'd have been arrested , it would have got massive news coverage and somebody would have ended up in jail). We are stirring up hostility with insincere virtue signalling whilst turning a blind eye to real hatred. The people who used to shout racist abuse have now just found different targets: foreigners, especially those from European countries. That is not respect.
