It really is very inclusive. It's even got the German national flag to represent the neo-fascists.

Yes, I'll be there too. I estimate the crowd for the Levante game was about 6 or 7,000. So, as it's the weekend, there could be around 10,000 there this afternoon.

Athletic Bilbao are playing Liverpool tomorrow afternoon. So I expect that, like Levante did, they will field a reserve team against us this afternoon. Just as well, if McCarthy is going to be in goal. For those who weren't at the Levante game but have a Kingsland ticket for this one, the procedure is that you join a small queue by a fenced off area in front of the exact centre of the Itchen, with your ticket in your hand and one of the staff standing there will exchange it for a random ticket he has in his hand. Once inside another member of staff will guide you through, advising you to have a drink in the bar before you take your seat.

Is the Premier League too rich for us?
Nordic Saint replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
Yes. the only other Premier League clubs to have a zero or minus net spend over a 5-year period were Sheffield United and Norwich. Over those 5 years Leicester have had a net spend of £112.6 mill, which has enabled them to buy £30 mill+ players like Tielemans and so stay competitve. Is the Premier League too rich for us?
Nordic Saint replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
The question is: will we? Will the Danny Ings transfer money be spent on a replacement? If we can't even use 2/3 of it it to compete with Watford and Palace for our preferred target, Adam Armstrong, then it does perhaps signal that our owners are no longer prepared to compete at this level. We'll have to wait and see what happens. -

Their first team, including their 2 top goal scorers from last season, Morales and Marti, have a home game against Alaves tomorrow. I agree about those saves from Forster though. The first one was a real worldy. If McCarthy had played, Levante would almost certainly have scored.

What the f**k is going on. Done with this rabble

When he came on last night the Northam gave him a rapturous reception, singing his name. Hopefully, that will reassure the Club that we don't need Ings and that Shane is the way forward. At least he didn't look any less likely to score than Adams. -
Steve De Ridder and Alderweireld. We've had 15 French players, 10 Dutch, 7 Norwegian, 7 Polish & 6 Portuguese but only 3 from Belgium. This link lists them all: Southampton FC - Foreign players in the club | Transfermarkt There should be more from Spain. Such a shame that we let Sabino Barinaga go. The club's history could have been so different, as with his goals, especially at the end of the 1948/49 season, we'd have been promoted to the top flight in the 1940s.

I don't think there will ever be an opportunity. Nobody would buy him.

In this tournament he's looked like a grossly overpaid version of Shane Long. His finishing has been so poor that we expected him to miss that penalty.

The only time I can remember seeing him play at St Mary's was for for Borussia Mönchengladbach in a pre-season friendly, when they beat us 3-0 in 2018. He was subbed but so was the rest of the team. He has been superb for both club and country but perhaps because he plays for less fashionable teams, he hasn't got the recognition he deserves as one of the world's best goalkeepers.

That's odd because it was reported at the time that the club had to pay back a loan with interest to Kat before Gao's takeover could go through.

Very impressive performance from Italy. They look like they are going to be semi-finalists at least.

Pavarotti was the greatest and will never be surpassed. I was lucky enough to see him sing Nessun Dorma live twice - absolutely spine tingling.

We do have a good national anthem, Land of Hope and Glory. If Scotland can drop God Save the Queen for Flower of Scotland, why can't England drop it too? It's the British national anthem, not the English one, and it is a boring dirge. I'll be interested to see how the 35-year-old Lille striker, Burak Yilmaz, plays. With our current budget restrictions, and being in limbo until we get a new owner, he might be good for us next season. I emphasize 'with our limited budget because obviously there are a lot of younger and better strikers there but they all would cost at least £40 mill.

You are right. Barr Construction from Ayrshire, which was later taken over by McLaughlin & Harvey. St Mary's cost £32 million. Contrast that with the Tottenham Stadium, which cost £1 billion.
-
That's not the way our club operates. They'll want to spend much less on Ings' replacement, which looks likely to be Adam Armstrong. Eventually the quality of the squad gets diluted until it's no longer good enough for the Premier League. The only other Premier League clubs that spent the same as or less than they received in the transfer market over a 5-year-period were Norwich and Sheffield United. Looks like he's strong at concentrating on watching the ball go into his net. -
We wouldn't be able to afford a transfer fee for him even if we wanted him and I'm not sure that we do.

"One surprising stat here is the creative output of Redmond. Redmond tops our attacking players for expected assists, chances created, and final third successful passes." Yes, that does come as a big surprise as he has come in for a lot of stick this season. Without him, it looks like we'd be in trouble.
