  1. He's clearly got a concussion and it has nothing to do with Man U.
  2. Romeu's tackle was late and from behind, and left the player on the floor injured, he was lucky to only get a yellow. I doubt he has a reputation for anything having mostly been in Chelsea's reserves, but he and Wanyama did their defensive duties pretty well.
  3. I think Mane clearly got a couple of very solid whacks and may well have been concussed. He went off for treatment, came back on, went back to the ground in the next break, down the tunnel for assessment and got replaced when still down the tunnel - so if he was faking he fooled the medic. And he wasn't.
  4. I think we picked a good team to show we can still defend, and were massively improved defensively as a result. Cedric showed his value with a good performace up and down the right wing and some good stuff into the box, Caulker started passing it on the deck, Targett had a decent game despite being asked to do a role that's practically the opposite of what he's good at and showed some great tenacity at one point, and Watford didn't manage an effort on goal compared to our 5 shots on target. There were a few moments where the wing-backs were hung out to dry by the DMs not supporting them quickly enough when they had the ball and didn't give them a pass option, but it didn't happen too often when they were being attacked. Clearly, losing our most creative attacking player in the first 25 minutes impacted on our likelihood of creating something, but we still did enough to have won it. I like the fact we're shooting from range a bit more often too, that enables us to mix it up around the box and stops us being too predictable. Plenty to be positive about.
  5. Don't forget they also choose to ignore that those marquee players (even the free transfers) also get paid massive wages, I think they assume wages come from some magic money tree!
  6. I know you know this, but even if we did want to do it, we couldn't under FFP without finding a load of ways to self-fund via sponsorships anyway. Cortese's biggest mistake was assuming that he'd be able to carry on his interpretation of Markus' legacy when the process of executing the will was complete and there was an heir with the nous to take control for herself. And presumably another error in telling all the players he could guarantee them things he couldn't, giving them ambition without any way for the club to match it. He also failed to even give us a squad capable of challenging for what he wanted to achieve. I have no problem at all with us being sustainable, nor in identifying that all the money is going into the players' pockets and nowhere else. I was annoyed when an academy kid's parents told me they'd had Shaw's agent around for dinner and that he'd said the club was seen as a stepping stone by everyone in football and the club was fine with developing players to sell on. This was summer 2014, when it looked like we were so close to cracking it. It soon became evident what the impact of that was - more in the Chambers transfer than any of the others. We plan on being the best of the rest - which will get more difficult when others in the 6-11th group have more money to make up for their inefficiencies from next season.
  7. If you mean what's accurate is that it's idiocy, I agree with you. Other than that, read the accounts.
  8. Well, Schneiderlin and Clyne...
  9. Everything Cresswell did in the entire MotD highlights I saw was worse. Even when winning the free-kick at the end he was just trying to waste time and not beat his man whilst a goal behind.
  10. They've just done a documentary on them on Sky Sports, not sure if it was a one off or not but obviously built up a bit of a rapport.
  11. Something highly suspicious about the West Ham v Bournemouth match, particularly Cresswell's performance, I haven't seen a player make so many high profile mistakes, amble back when supposed to be marking someone and generally look so disengaged for a long time. What was Boruc doing diving the wrong way for West Ham's 3rd too?!
  12. I like that that photo contains all of the answers. Picture of bloke in question World Player of the Year in massive letters Cheque with his name on it telling you who it is Name of sport he plays in clear sight
  13. Take any one from Fonte, Rodriguez, maybe even Pelle, Cedric, Forster...
  14. Our grand scheme is to be the best of the sides not in the Champions League, whilst recruiting relatively cheap players with a promising upside, selling developed players at a profit and using the balance between wages, tv money and player sales to maintain the club's infrastructure and playing side sustainably, I should think. Which means we'll always have lots of potential replacements in mind, but you can't expect us to be 100% successful and sometimes we'll have periods when our depth level is exposed by injury and suspensions.
  15. Absolute idiocy.
  16. The massive cost of having a full squad of professional footballers for a start.
  17. Already been linked and laughed at.
  18. So apart from Fonte being in demand and probably wanting a last big contract, Pelle being younger and a lot more mobile than Lambert was when Liverpool signed him, no-one in history ever having left a club mid-contract, and the possibility of the bloke we spent ages tracking to replace Clyne being as good as he's looked in pre-season, we're still only losing two of our best players. Ok then.
  19. Quite, we've got at least 3 going in 2016.
  20. I would imagine we'll pick Wanyama tomorrow and reiterate that no-one will be sold - this time having told all of the players when they're allowed to leave first. My 2016 summer hit-list is Wanyama, Fonte, Mane, Rodriguez and possibly Pelle and Cedric, FWIW.
  21. I've just read that, the bit where he was "picked regularly under Pochettino but dropped 3 times by Koeman" is so transparent (and such absolute cobblers) it's embarrassing to read. Played 20 matches in 2013/14 under Pochettino. Played 32 matches in 2014/15 under Koeman.
  22. It's almost as cringeworthy as the use of "cringe".
  23. Nothing like as unimpressed as Pelle was every time Rodriguez didn't pass to him!
  24. I think most people are defending Targett on the grounds that he's the back up left back and some of the criticism has been completely disproportionate. I don't think he's a "massive weakness", and I've been saying he's not good enough for 18 months. He can still improve and playing those kind of matches will help with that. At the moment he's nothing like as good as Bertrand, not sure why he'd be expected to be when we clearly bought someone because he wasn't good enough at the time, but only one thing he did on Thursday even contributed to the creation of a chance, never mind a goal.
