  1. Always the option for a contract buy-out or mutual contract termination anyway.
  2. The half when teams didn't have two people marking him - which is how he started creating space for Mane to score instead, which is how we got to a situation where he's now dropping off ALL the time AND he's now getting into the box too. His workrate is phenomenal at the moment, and even his stupid near post run is becoming better timed and makes more sense with Rodriguez attacking the space behind him.
  3. I can't have us selling players we haven't bought yet! Also not included Stekelenburg due to loan, though I'd be delighted if he stayed as Davis surely can't be cover next season and Gazzaniga is still a gamble at this stage.
  4. Not enough facepalmery for that response. A second generation of ARTs. PS I met Javi a few times (the ex was "credited" with introducing him to Saints in a 2000s edition of Saints magazine), relatively un-nutty, terrible footballer though, turned up at Fleming Park with all of us expecting him to be good because... Spanish... and he just... wasn't.
  5. Good that.
  6. Someone managed to get that tweeted onto the screen during the match yesterday.
  7. I've heard the Radio Gaga version in the Northam and various away matches. The timing of the clapping is dismal though, nearly as bad as the Ohhh in Jose Fonte baby...
  8. How are "they are debt-free" and "all their debts were paid in full" not on this list yet?
  9. I've never even offered an opinion on whether Mane would stay or go in this window, just that he's on my shortlist of players I expect to leave next summer. Don't let that stop you spouting utter nonsense though. In fact, you can even check my posting history here: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/member.php?107-The9. Before today I hadn't even posted since Tuesday - something to do with going to Denmark and back... I have never once mentioned Mane either leaving or staying, and actually I didn't think he was leaving. I don't think Wanyama is either, though HE clearly wants to. Stick to getting p155ed off about you being proven wrong about things when I actually DO say them (eg Koeman not permanently switching to a back 5, no-one in history listing the goalkeeper in the formation, etc.)
  10. His free-kicks are the most predictable thing in the world. He ALWAYS goes the same side, and he rarely hits the target. What we need to do is build a set-piece around someone else passing the ball into the other corner as he begins his run up. Ruddy was cheating towards the keeper's right for the second free-kick because he knew where it was going. Until he actually scores one they're all potential and no outcome - though even saying that he's the best we've got at it.
  11. Mane's contribution was absolutely streets ahead of Ward-Prowse's.
  12. I don't think anyone ever was, were they?
  13. Pelle is on my "players leaving next summer" shortlist. Unfortunately the shortlist isn't short. In order of likelihood (IMO) of first team players who won't be here this time next year... (doesn't include Ramirez) 1. Wanyama 2. Mane 3. Rodriguez 4. Fonte 5. Pelle then the slightly less likely... 6. Cedric 7. Tadic 8. Juanmi 9. Forster 10. Bertrand 11. Romeu
  14. "Offers so little movement" You literally cannot ever have seen him play.
  15. You tell Schneiderlin he can't leave. Was that the punchline you were after? It is possible to compete with players that aren't sought after, but they're not the ones who leave when you do well. So basically, we can't compete with sides with massive income and probably shouldn't try to unless FFP changes so it doesn't just favour the top 4, and someone decides to spend a few billion.
  16. Man U's is down to Schneiderlin in part, Liverpool's is down to Steven Gerrard.
  17. 4-3-3...
  18. I'd say last season showed he's a pragmatist. We'll see if we stick with the back 3/5. Speaking in very general terms, I think it's surprising of a Dutch manager, given how wing back systems get completely stuffed by the traditional Dutch 4-3-3.
  19. They don't want it, especially not the Prem clubs - making way too much money from the Premier League.
  20. Does the Copenhagen train go through there? I suspect it does. Useful info for anyone not coming from Aarhus...
  21. Still a reasonable chance we'll get a Pot 4 team of near-comparable size to Midtjylland though, but certainly shouldn't be allocation issues for the other 2 aways.
  22. Decent, solid, not the quickest but not slow, doesn't intercept or press that much at the moment but that will come with time to be coached into our system. Very solid and accurate passer when it is more than 3 yards, a bit leg wavy when team-mates are around which will resolve with improving understanding. A couple of over-exuberant reducers that probably will get him into trouble over time. Responsible for much of our defensive improvement since half time in the Everton match (along with more defensive formations). Looks like a good signing.
  23. The Saints info suggests Give St is the nearest station to Billund station £6-£8 half hourly train to Herning. Doesn't say how far away it is from the airport though, so I lookied it up on Google Maps and it's a 20 min bus trip on the number 119 bus which runs once an hour. Brande seems to be one stop nearer than Herning and further from the airport, Vejle is a decent way to the east and further away. One train an hour at 10 past from Give St to Herning.
  24. Does he? Because he's done it about once in 40+ matches so far, and had all last season when he could have used 3 CBs and didn't. Are you sure you don't want to call it a 1-4-2-3-1-(7) or something? PS Two people answered the question already.
