  1. Or Saints at Man City last game of the season...
  2. Make that Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs. So Chelsea and City have the CL, but you'd think have the squad to handle it, and Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal still have the FA Cup. Spurs are clear of "other distractions" after the League Cup final this weekend.
  3. We could be 6 points better off by then with the others having dropped points.

Worrying man hands in that pic.

But England was hosting a much larger proportion of the world's population. Which was what you found "shocking". Even though it's a percentage which is five times lower than it was at a point in the none-too distant past. Which implies that 1% is not "shocking" at all.
  6. Shame, I was hoping they'd stay in Europe for longer to distract them. Still, LOLvren.
  7. Would he have signed for us in the first place if money wasn't a factor?
  8. Even if it is, his hairdresser will still be in Southampton until the end of the season, we have the Lovren precedent for that.
  9. The longer the other clubs stay in Europe/FA Cup, the better for us. Unfortunately Arsenal appear to have activated their escape clause.
  10. Can't see it making much difference to be honest, even if he's off he needs to keep his level up to ensure interested parties remain so, especially if he's running down his contract, as his value then is only based on his performance level. Anyone know where he gets his hair cut?
  11. Flamengo 2015/16 Third:
  12. Just had a look at the 2015 adidas teamwear range - this is the only striped one (Argentina style):
  13. Having seen that second goal again since my first post on this subject, I'd like to point out that the reason he didn't save the second goal was because the deflection off Fonte took the ball into his dive, slightly towards his body, so his hand was already past the point of where he could use it to stop the ball. It went in off his wrist just below his hand, and short of having detachable hands or breakable arms there was no physical way he could get his hand onto the ball with his arm fully extended. His only hope was that the wrist blocked the ball entirely, which unfortunately it did not.

    Fil ?

He was clearly the last-minute Mane replacement. He also came on against West Ham, so it was his "full debut" (i.e. first start) not his "Saints debut".

    "Stonewall"

It is something we should accept as part of the game for as long as referees refuse to give certain types of fouls unless someone falls over. Pull back on the shoulder, free-kick/penalty, it's a foul. There's no need for anyone to have to fall on the floor, AS IT'S ALREADY A FOUL, KEVIN FRIEND.

    "Stonewall"

A corruption of "early days", and yes, blame Ron Atkinson, he started it and far too many people picked it up (albeit some of them using it ironically to represent hakneyed manager-speak). "Over the moon" (Brian) seems to have been passe for about 30 years now having peaked in the late 70s, I wonder if the loss of Brian Moore from our screens had any effect, if it was that the phrase had become a cliche, or if it was the wider repeating of Monty Python in the early 80s giving a wider audience to the footballer sketch (which I'm hoping someone can link)?

    "Stonewall"

It's a cliche, but at least it's a logical phrase (based on "setting out your stall" being the first thing you do in preparation for a day's work, if you happen to be a market trader) AND it isn't misusing or misrepresenting existing terminology. I'm happy enough about that one.

    Fil ?

    Because he wants to.
  19. Anyone got any more of these floating around?
  20. And 70% didn't, and has been enough to see us in the top 5 in the last week of February.
  21. It's nothing to do with pace or lack of creativity, we've got forward and had potentially goalscoring positions from which we've failed to have a decent effort on goal. It's a bit of luck (ball falling a yard in front of Fonte on the bounce across the 6 yard box yesterday), some utterly sh01te refereeing (I think we might have scored at least 1 of the 3 penalties we could have had), moving the ball quickly enough that defenders aren't set and comfortable defending, and not taking some of the chances we have had (though usually they don't arrive to begin with - we were clean through on the keeper 3 times yesterday and only got one shot off). Most of all it's about not having a World Class player in the front 4 who can do the sort of thing Coutinho did yesterday, and we're not very likely to be forking out for one of those any time soon.
  22. Yeah, you're talking b0110cks.
  23. Which is exactly the justification all of the ex-players used to justify them leaving when they all decided to go, and was widely known in the summer. Just ask Lovren's hairdresser.
  24. Nothing to worry about - all the top sides (except Man U) are back in European action in the next few weeks, Man U have a run of top sides coming up, and we have only Chelsea and Man City away and Spurs home of the top 9, with all of the other games against bottom 11 sides. If we can match our performance against the weaker sides from earlier in the season (preferably improve on it) then we'll get into, and deserve, Europe no matter what happens elsewhere. If we can't win the vast majority of our matches against the bottom half teams, we don't deserve to get into Europe anyway. We've got goals and chance creation in the side, we just need to have a few more efforts, and for God's sake move the ball to the attacking players more quickly, rather than sideways and backwards all the time.
