  1. £2.6bn, I heard. I'd sign a bloody good top flight centre back. Someone like Lescott, except still motivated and with lower contract expectations. Seeing as we haven't got to the point of selling naming rights to Staplewood yet and all...

    Sunday Games.

Or that "definitely not coming 10th" stuff, he's a genius. That was him, right ?
  3. The9

    Sunday Games.

A Sunderland win was a no brainer, it's highly unlikely that Wigan will win 3 more than us, and all of Villa, Sunderland and Stoke will also win 2 games more than us, and Norwich and Newcastle need to win at least one more than us in the run in, as well as West Ham getting more points than us (from one more game), which is what needs to happen for us to go down. Our concern should be getting into the top half, not worrying about the teams at the bottom. If we play as if we're safe and persist with our passing we'll be fine, we'll probably need to lose all 5 to go down.
  4. That's as maybe, but to do that aap3 would need to agree to be bought out of the final year of the deal.
  5. Yeah, I've already mocked one up, but thanks to Turkish's baiting, I'm not uploading it. So you can all be furious with him now.
  6. Their home shirt shows where the contrast colours could go for a more striped effect :
  7. This is the Timbers kit I'm referring to :
  8. He was bloody rubbish today, but he's got something about him that none of our other players have, and as long as someone teaches him how to take non-shooting free-kicks I can see him and Rodriguez linking up well next season. At the moment though, he's probably not in our best XI as he's a bit of a luxury with the (usual) pressing game. Telling that we chose to sit our holding midfielders much deeper today to counter their hoof knock downs, and expected Ramirez to sit ahead of their flick-on mop-up squad and exploit the space in the hole. Seemed to be working early on, but he never quite found the right pass.
  9. If that's the route we go I'll be very surprised if it's not very similar to that Portland Timbers shirt earlier on the thread. Also, that Basel shirt is a 2012/13 template, even if we had halves the style won't be like that.
  10. FWIW his average score of 7.16 means he gets one score exactly correct and 4 correct results (W/D/L) a week, which also means he gets 5 completely wrong. You have to go some NOT to get the winners of Man U/Man City/Arsenal/Spurs/Chelsea home games, so that's around half of the correct predictions taken care of, and he's getting 5/8 of the rest utterly wrong...
  11. You can, but as all of his predictions are based on a kind of ill-informed cloud of deeply flawed assumptions, along with self-confessed ignorance as he uses "Ah durn't knooow..." approximately every 2nd prediction, you can't really expect them to be accurate, and you can understand why fans of a team clearly a lot better than he thinks would get annoyed by his constant ignorance of the team's abilities.
  12. I think we should play upon the halo a lot more, it's a unique iconography in English football (to my recollection). If we were going to get rid of the current badge - which I like - something striped with a the tree, water and the halo would be fine.
  13. About frigging time the council pulled their finger out on this, I'm still annoyed at the removal of the free bus tickets in the first place (after the STs had been paid for), and I've moved home 5 times since then ! Plus the agreement with Lowe indicated that the free buses would come back if Saints had (something like) 10 crowds over 20k in a season. Nick's wrong that people won't use free buses, I'm begging them to bring it back, would save me about £200 a season it transport costs from Hedge End, which I could then invest in beverages, as I wouldn't need to drive to matches. I was also using the free bus when I was "only" just north of the Common, as opposed to being 5 miles away. On the Illingsworth as a person front, we've met a few times and I've even played football with him - I think he's a good bloke, though the media presentation of him as a Saints rentaquote using outdated organisations to underpin his credentials is annoying. There's nothing wrong with his "Ugly Inside" title, which is a lot more legitimate than the Saints Trust title. FWIW I also couldn't care less what people did as SISA members getting on for 20 years ago, they've been irrelevant ever since.
  14. I didn't even think the Remy goal was all that good, he was unmarked and the (reverse) bend was down to luck. The ball hopped up a bit as he hit it, literally could have gone anywhere and no matter what a striker says, you can only maximise the percentages and a bounce like that takes it out of your control to a point. You can control your swing and aim, but there's no way he could have read that hop and compensated for it with his swing already under way. He meant to sidefoot it on target, maybe even bend it, but it didn't do what he meant it to.
  15. The fact Lineker mentioned it on last week's MotD meant that Lawrenson pretty much has to address it within the BBC's broadcast canon.
  16. Pretty sure they just made it up, the silver crest is already in use and there's no reason to think it's anything other than a styling of the existing club badge.
  17. Possibly my favourite picture ever, from our 5-4 defeat to Watford in October 2008 :
  18. Which proves how confident Hall is in his claims - the possible libel charge phrase sounds like the kind of thing Redknapp would fling around, but let's count the number of times he's actually gone to court about these supposedly libellous claims, knowing that his reputation is likely to get dragged into it as part of the evidence...
  19. Building from a base of Championship players.
  20. With the current squad we'll finish about where we finish this season. Somewhere between 8th and 16th. With a massive spending bender on world class players we could break the top 8.
  21. Essruu might like this.
  22. As with 2010 and 2012 respectively under Cortese ? Never happen.
  23. They're not out of admin yet, the -10 will come when that actually happens - though if they're already relegated by then I fully expect the FL to make a -10 in League 2 a condition of them receiving the "golden share", along with the already-threatened transfer and financial restrictions. I do think we should now start another thread for non-admin related Skate hate though. You'll learn more about it than the media can tell you in the nutjob thread here http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1664656#post1664656
  24. Given that the current kit isn't striped, I'd be hopeful that that would be one of them. Also, we couldn't get a new Umbro deal even if we wanted to, and logically we'll want to move away from the limited distribution deal we have as well. Which reminds me, there have been a few new kit launches since I've been on holiday : Bayern 3rd kit : Hammarby (vaguely striped Kappa) : The aap3 deal runs for one more season, so unless we've found a big sponsor to pay them off, we'll still be with them.
  25. Umbro got bought by Nike about 3 years ago, Nike took over their decent contracts and sold the name on last December, and our Umbro contract ends after this season anyway.
