    Countdown !!

Bit optimistic, but you can only do whole days... http://www.onlinecountdowns.com/countdown-clock/show/Thread%20Lock%7C500dd770%7C2
  2. I should bloody hope not as well, but where did that 800k figure come from?

    Countdown !!

How very Saints related, and definitely not already linked in the 1600-page thread that is stickied at the top of the page...
  4. Where would this have happened a month before the season started ? There hasn't even been any p1ss-taking of the exceedingly rise-worthy Man U gingham kit yet. Give it a few weeks for people to notice though...
  5. I guarantee you the lazy MotD pundits will bang on about it, after Sky have, and ESPN have, and anyone else with Prem coverage has. There's so much media coverage of the Prem and it'll be like a magical new revelation to every single journalist or commentator for months. It will get some kind of mention in every single live match. I always find it incredible how ill-informed a lot of people are, and you can guarantee Hansen will have something to say about the Liverpool similarity too... Don't forget the league hasn't actually started yet, 95% of other fans don't even know we're not wearing stripes yet. It's not going to be any massive big thing, but it'll be referenced endlessly.
  6. Not exactly clear at the moment is it?
  7. The most surprising thing will still be our bloody kit, there will be endless mentions of it in the media well into October.
  8. We didn't even sell STs for L1 until the Liebherr takeover was complete, but that was still before the end of July (2009) wasn't it ?
  9. Sorry, been watching clips of people underlining how screwed they are all afternoon and just assumed everyone would have come to the same conclusion (without having seen the same stuff). The FL have already laid down their expectations, I seriously doubt they'll assist a club that would be of extremely questionable stability to start a season when they could just be done with them by doing nothing. If they sell the ground (and wouldn't that give Chainrai his cash "out" so he could just wind them up then and there) they'd have to agree a lease-back or rent somewhere else, and no-one's going to get into a rental agreement with them with their history. The FL will also not have failed to notice Dean Saunders' claims regarding Simon Gillet's contract offer...
  10. Really ? Which part of "no-one is going to buy them and the administrator will liquidate within 2 weeks" don't you get ? Even if they get agreement for the compromise deals for the 8 huge wage earners to leave they'll still have a trust ownership with no money and no expertise, and will probably not make their first wage payments in September. As it is, the only indications are that for 2 months the administrator has not bothered to remove those players from the wage bill, which I'm inclined to think means that he wants to liquidate and needs a scapegoat (or 8 ).
  11. Skate Bob Beech who spoke to Dave Kitson about his contract (accompanied by footage of Kitson holding the letter and chatting to some bloke outside Welly) : "He accepted the letter and read it, and said he'll look at what's in the letter and come back to us, um, we also asked him about the situation, and he told us that he has not been offered a compromise in his contract or a settlement. Er, we've got no reason to disbelieve him, er, then we had a short meeting with Trevor Birch, who told us that the players have been given a compromise, so, as Jimmy Greaves once said, "it's a game of two halves". I should interject here and point out that saying has nothing whatsoever to do with two people having opposing opinions of a situation. Um, where we go now (Sky cut to clip of bloke holding the letter), not sure, but Trevor Birch has assured us, and has asked us to directly quote him, that they aren't crying wolf, we have two weeks to save the club, if the club isn't saved in two weeks, we will be liquidated, or WITHIN two weeks we will be liquidated Sky: So that's as serious as it gets for Portsmouth Football Club... open message from Trevor Birch to the fans, you've got 2 weeks to save the club ? Absolutely, it's down to us now, no-one else is going to save this club, it's us fans which will save this club, nobody else. So I'm appealing to all Pompey fans, to get out there, let's show these people what our club means to us". Can someone sticky this quote, because in two weeks we'll get to see EXACTLY the impact "the world's bestest" have - i.e. absolutely none. EDIT : For the lolz, they immediately then cut to Olympic news, with a "4 DAYS TO GO" full screen splash following that interview. Made me laugh.
  12. They showed him on SSN as well, separate story as the TBH thing was "Just In" half an hour ago.
  13. Because I'm awesome, I've transcribed Ben Haim's interview from SSN at 3:20pm today, including a few "Ben Haimisms" like saying "true" for "truth" and "you know" every half sentence. He also laughs nervously a lot and says "he" instead of "we" and makes it sound like "will", but anyway : Sky question : "It must be really tough ?" TBH : "To be honest it's not easy... you know we still, er, everyone like the club, like the fans, but obviously the fans don't know the true. I don't want to talk about too much now, but I can say that, er, you know, when we first went into administration, then so, we sit with the first administrator, and in 5, 10 minute we got a deal, we agree everything. Here it take a bit longer because Trevor speak with us and then he just disappeared for 2 months (shrugs) so... it's not our fault, he forgot that you have to do the negotiation with the player (laughs) and not with the press, you know? The press not going to sign a compromise - so will have to sit with us and... exactly the figures, no ?" Sky question about Chainrai saying the survival is in the hands of the players : TBH : "You know I think basically errr we didn't got to that situation because of the players, you know everyone... it's because the owners... so if it's... I don't know if it's Chainrai or I dunno, they are the owners before, the Russian that eh have problem with 250 million or I don;t know exactly the story, but it's not our problems, you know, we sign a contract with good faith, we come to play football, and er we find it very difficult. And we have a very hard time here to... to express ourself and to play football, to enjoy football. But still we want to help the club to survive and, you know, we want to do our best, but they have to talk with us, and not with the press, that's the only problem now." Sky : How much money have you lost ? TBH : "Yeah I lost a lot of ,money, (nervous laugh) you know, it's not about figures, it's you know... over two, two and a half million pounds net, so... But I prepared to lose more, I prepared to help the club and lose more money, but on the other hand, even the administrator, his fee is not less than what I earn, you know, nobody talk about that, so I prepared to lose more, but he have to cut his (nervous laugh)... his as well."
  14. I did wonder why the SSN interview with Bale earlier was only about Luca Modric (and lasted 2 seconds before he was shepherded away). The usual level of Talk Sport and Saintsweb accuracy then !
  15. He's hardly likely not to when we've just randomly given them £800k due to our own impatience. The day after we "cleared up" the Davis transfer, every other ex-Rangers player was also released from their previous registration by FIFA, costing them nothing.
  16. Erm, didn't we give up the Bale (and Walcott) add-ons when scrambling for cash in admin led us to renegotiate the deals for cash up front ? I doubt we'll have the same problem with Oxlade-Chamberlain. It's on Talk Sport so it's probably cobblers anyway.
  17. My rising hatred of Brighton for their general imbecilic behaviour towards Adkins (which was especially obvious at Withdean) was tempered by the end of that match by us beating them hilariously late on and totally rubbing it in their faces. The 3-0 thrashing of them at St Mary's was funny due to the terrible reffing and inevitable Taricco red card, and the defeat at the AMEX after the usual Poyet-led antics got Lambert sent off didn't even bother me that much because I was too busy laughing at their crappy new stadium's general pokiness and how many points ahead of them we were.
  18. That one died off when we got Hoddle sacked and stuffing them in the 2003 FA Cup was the icing on the cake.

    Centre Half

Well I did, been banging on about how we're clearly not sustainable without Prem tv money and buying at least 4 players every window for over 6 months now.
  20. You may well be right. Apart from the arguments I've had already on here, he only needs to get a long term injury.
  21. 150s on Rodriguez is much better value than 90s on Lambert...
  22. Reading is our new plastic temporary rivalry for the moment, who else is remotely nearby and in the same league? Bournemouth and Brighton were eclipsed last season and the year before and that lot down the road won't be around for nearly a whole year... I'm still hoping the Skates cling on long enough for us to draw them in R2 of the Capital One Cup but I have serious doubts that they'll last, survive, or win a match if they do.
  23. I honestly don't know what to expect, thinking of starting a thread comparing our last non-relegated Prem team to this one player by player...
  24. I'd be inclined to start him against Man C, Man U and Arsenal, watch him put in his three stellar performances for the year and then flog him to someone gullible in the Championship.
