I'm not being funny, but the outgoing England kit lasted 18 months, the previous one arrived in October 2009 and departed immediately after the 2010 World Cup. So I don't know why the sudden uproar when the recent one was around almost twice as long as the one before it.

Peru away. Strange collar, though it's obviously been designed to look like the Peruvian flag...

And it was only a one match ban for denying a goalscoring opportunity not violent conduct in the first place.

Anyway, back to the point, didn't the NotW get rid of the tits a few years back ? Has TSOS reinstated them or not ? I can't begin to care beyond that point, and I can't say I'm exactly bothered about that.

Lung does not do "concise". With the admirable exception of Ask Adkins.

Who is a Skate, so why ?

So rare that even though they actually sold them in 2003 I can't find a single picture of them on the internet.

Just for the record, "Spencer Day"/Spencer Trethewy, who took Aldershot down the river in 1992 was then imprisoned for running up bills when his company was suspended for trading in 1994, so it's hardly a shocker that he's managed to breach football's financial rules with that kind of history. I'm fairly sure the "30ft statue of himself in dead iguanas" is just Wikipedia being Wikipedia though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spencer_Trethewy

Since we've "officially" had squad numbers it's something like this: Le Tissier - 1993-2002 (yes, I know there was football before the Prem, they didn't have squad numbers in the first season either; it was from 1993/4) Kanchelskis Sep 2002- Feb 2003 Phillips August 2003 - June 2005 Hajto July 2005- Jan 2006 Skacel July 2006 - May 2009 Lambert Aug 2009-present There are a couple of gaps : Between Kanchelskis and Phillips (which I think was filled with talk of retiring the number 7 shirt) and between Hajto and Skacel - it's possible someone had number 7 for the first 6 months of Burley's reign and I've forgotten them, we did ship in 15 players at that time ?

See the Pompey Takeover Thread for details.

You're just jealous cos you didn't get an invite.

As a regular consumer of Saints crap and kits, I hope they don't do it too, they'd only stick the prices up in the first place to offset the discounts anyway. On which note I see the new Umbro England shirt is £43 (compared to £42 last season) for a short-sleeved shirt.

Yup, I used to use that trick at midweek games, leave my seat on 90 mins and go one step at a time to the exit, then peg it out of the stadium as the whistle blew, run back to the car parked near the Eagle, jump in, whack Five Live on and off up the Avenue to the M3 before the jams began. Always worked and no-one ever actually complained. I wouldn't do it now, mostly because I don't live 120 miles away any more, and I go to the game with mates who are local as well, so after midweek games we just sit around in the pub until the queues die out.

This is good for us both.
-
It's already happening, hadn't you noticed ? Also, Umbro don't do 3 new kits a season for anyone any more, they only do two, so you're safe either way.

Whilst being an apologist for all the drunken abusive mongs who thought it was funny, no doubt.

Er, thanks, but I posted that hours ago, and I was calm then as well. Nice to know some people STILL think they have the right to intimidate the general public and generally act like d1cks just because they happen to support a football team.

...and drive them into the sea ?

The other possibility is that the attacker was deemed to have been going away from the goal - that is, the ball was not going towards the goal but out towards the wing - even if it's only slightly, under the current interpretation that's not DOGSO. Which is why last weekend's assault on the Cardiff striker definitely wasn't a red for DOGSO - he took the thing sideways when he was chopped down. Again the question there was more if the keeper was reckless, which Green certainly was. Should have been a 3 match ban for violent conduct not a 1 match ban (overturned) for denying a goalscoring opportunity. As a general rule I'm not sure why people think West Ham are being protected when they've had someone sent off in three straight matches.

You forgot the "etc" and/or winky smiley.

How do you feel about the possibility of retaining the yellow kit from this season for use as a third kit in the Prem ? Does it signify the rebirth of Saints ?

Give it 6 weeks and someone will have smuggled a smart card reader and a massive LED display into the ground so they can wave their ST credits at people.

I think 1 for a home, 1.3 for an away within 200 miles of St Mary's, 1.6 for an away further than that. That way 2 long aways outranks 3 homes, which I think is reasonable; but 3 homes still outranks two near aways. Then of course it would depend on how many points you need to apply at what point for which matches...

You not sparking up your fags in the khazi will certainly improve my customer experience at half-time, anyway. Suspecting that there won't be a "smoker" tick box on the card that would enable you to leave and return though. otherwise you could use the card multiple times for different people. What they need are cages outside to enclose a smoking area but still make it in the "open air" outside the stadium. Preferably nowhere near the exits either.

Yes to online bookings, yes to smart card stadium entry, yes to membership, and any loyalty-based scheme should be ok too - but no to excessive online booking charges (beyond the actual cost of P&P and maybe a tiny admin fee, ignoring that this is the most cost-effective way for the club to administer sales anyway). Definitely DEFINITELY no to smart card credits to enable fans to purchase goods at St Mary's IF it's the only way to buy anything. They've done this in Germany and it's been a logistical nightmare, people have to charge their cards up with credit which they then can't get back except by spending it on club crap. A few stories of random charges coming off the cards as well... and how would you know?
