Just moved house, paying off outstanding utilities bills and going to Barnsley which will cost a load in petrol, plus I now live much further from the ground and it's become a pain to get in and back. In addition I may be playing in (or at least watching) a friendly match in Bursledon at the same time. Oh, and of course if I don't get a ticket today (which I won't, because I won't know whether I'm playing until tomorrow), I absolutely guarantee I won't be paying the on the day tax.

I would say the pile of Prem sides who are probably better than us would be a pretty good reason we wouldn't win the League Cup, and I don't think we need our starting XI to beat Torquay now we've got such depth in the squad. We could happily field an eleven completely changed from Saturday's starting side without issue - it's not the JPT. Although the competition rules DO state : 6.2 Each Club shall play its full available strength in all Cup Competition matches, unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Management Committee shall have power to impose such penalties as they shall think fit. I'm pretty sure Arsenal won't have the cash upfront to spend unless they sell Nasri or Fabregas first, they're pretty much constantly skint from paying off their stadium. Of course if Fabregas went to Barcelona, they're millions in debt and wouldn't have the readies up front either...

The ref does the "ball" motion and they chuck on another ball, like they did for the 100-odd years before multiball existed. They did exactly this at Kingsmeadow on Saturday lunchtime.

Dunno where this "Reading used to cheat" thing came from, whenever I've been there they've always used the system extremely fairly - there's nothing wrong with getting the ball back into play quickly for everyone like they did when Coppell got them into the Prem. It was Brighton (and Colchester)'s disappearing ball boys act that was the kind of thing that got it banned. I think the obvious solution is independent ball retrieval teams, though who pays for that or supplies them I don't know.

The obvious answer to what is a perfectly reasonable question, is that if we installed the huge pointless show-off seats we'd probably need a much bigger bench area, and I'd assume that would mean shifting some ST holders and slightly reducing the capacity. I should think Adkins might have chipped in with something about not wanting players to want to sit on the bench as well. As for mock-ups, try red with Recaro written on it in white or black. A mate of mine had 3-1, AND 3-1 with Hammond as first scorer. Got 18/1 and about 175/1 respectively for his quids. The wife had Gradel as her captain on the FF so she was happy too. And I had Fonte in mine so hugely po'ed by it.

Pretty much, and distribution is one of Seaborne's strengths - though the most obvious alternative is someone entirely different who can already do all of the stuff that's required. If nothing else, Fonte's fall and back/head injury yesterday showed how close we are to the whole defence potentially going tits up with our current squad. None of the pairings without Fonte look good Championship level and we need to be able to continue competently in that situation.

I thought he looked decent when heading the ball, tracking and marking, and out of his depth when whacking the thing into the crowd on his left foot at least 5 times. But I'd rather he did that than get caught with it, it's just that to progress we need someone who can do something with the ball rather than keep conceding possession. Given time that might still be Martin, but it was the one glaring element of yesterday's performance that wasn't up to Championship standard for me. Everything else was pretty great.
