  1. The studio blokes on Sportsnet just spent a moment telling viewers here in Canada that Redmond is a really good player.
  2. I expect this will get the Liverpool supporters all excited about signing VVD in January. It does not take much to set them off.
  3. An ultra defensive lineup, which makes sense I suppose. I do not understand why he dropped Lemina. Overall I find his team selections to be a real head scratcher. Perhaps Redmond is due to come good at some point this season? He’s been average in his best games so far, and a liability in his worse games. He has set Gabbiadini for two open play goals so far this season, though. VVD would have been useful in this game. If he is one of the players with attitude problems, then I would completely support Pellegrino’s decision to drop him.
  4. Hoedt’s omission from Wednesday’s game against Leicester was a tactical decision by Pellegrino. It was not for disciplinary reasons: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15773925.Hoedt_absence_not_due_to_disciplinary_reasons/
  5. Looks like autocorrect may have struck again. My translation: Black has a far better idea of picking the squad and game tactics than Pellegrino.
  6. Les Reed.
  7. I was hoping that they would be motivated to show Puel up by playing well. I was wrong.
  8. He won’t be, I don’t think, not anytime soon. The club backed Puel last Jan by shipping out Fonte to West Ham. Perhaps they’ll do the same this year, although I’m not exactly sure who the troublemakers are.
  9. I tend to agree with this argument. The Leicester players are making Puel look awfully good right now. There’s no excuse for their performances at Liverpool away and Leicester home. The only thing is, I still don’t agree with some of Pellegrino’s player selections.
  10. The Mail is reporting that City are interested in signing Van Dijk or Inigo Martinez of Real Sociadad in January... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5178191/Man-City-chase-Virgil-van-Dijk-Inigo-Martinez.html
  11. I don’t expect that he will go anytime soon. What I hope is that Les and co. are doing their due diligence on managerial alternatives and are ready to pull the trigger and install a replacement promptly if things go even more pear-shaped than they already are. Huddersfield could be an important game in that regard.
  12. FWIW, he seems to have a decent command of the English language.
  13. I thought that the Liverpool game was supposed to do that.
  14. The reports concerning Giroud in the summer had him half way into the Everton changing room for something like £40 million before he had a last minute change of heart. Given his age and reported price, I just cannot see it happening.
  15. I remember Demarai Gray’s name appearing on a transfer thread on this forum before he ended up at Leicester. Anyway, Puel told the Leicester Mercury that he wanted Gray when he was managing Saints. It doesn’t really go into detail about what if any attempts were made to get him: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/revealed-leicester-city-boss-puel-906134
  16. He provided a pretty sweet assist on Sunday.
  17. I started disliking them after the Ronald Koeman debacle. Some of their supporters are prize morons.
  18. Lovren is ****e... it seemed a little soft though, that pen. Commentators: “What was Lovren doing?”
  19. As far as I’m concerned he’s fast enough to score goals in the PL. That is good enough for me.
  20. He’s a goal scorer, and a proven PL goal scorer. He’s exactly what we need. The fellow reviewing today’s game against Arsenal in the Mirror reckons he’s the only thing keeping us out of a relegation fight.
  21. Salah just made Martina look very ordinary for Liverpool’s 1-0 goal. No one should be surprised.
  22. I’m really happy with Hoj the few times we’ve seen him. He did a great job of coming back to snuff out a dangerous Arsenal break from JWP’s first corner in the first half. Also, FF’s save from Ramsay low and to his left deserves recognition. I’m daring to hope that he’s rounding into form. Redmond has played a little better after a poor start to the season, but for me Boufal should start ahead of him 100% of the time even in the back three system that Pellegrino has started employing against the Top 6 teams. Perhaps today’s line up was dictated by the extra midweek PL game.
  23. I have a hard time believing this one...still, it would irritate Everton supporters if we signed Giroud.
  24. 2-2. Leicester seem to go off the boil a lot in the second half (at least in the games I have watched)
  25. Hull won 3-2 today.
