To be honest, I am amazed at just how quickly football clubs appoint new managers. Forrest took one day to announce the last three managers. How on earth they (both parties) get lawyers to check the contracts so quickly is beyond me. I presume they were working on each for a period of time beforehand?

Why should the club waste it's time telling people that MLT is not going to be manager? It would be really poor form for them to announce that 'there is no interest in appointing Russel Martin'. Better to say nothing. Do other clubs comment on managerial non appointments in advance of making an appointment? Fan's desperation for communication seems to be reaching new levels. OK, so we haven't immediately appointed someone, but that's not unusual. Spors has said they are "actively interviewing people", so they may have spent the last couple few weeks making enquiries and arranging those interviews. Getting the right person is more important than getting a person today.

A bit strange O'Neil turning down Wolves. Did he pull out or did they? If he did, then I wonder what can we offer that Wolves can't?
-
Is it? I've hardly had a good word to say about THB since he joined, but you must have better eyesight than me to have seen evidence of him not wanting to be here last night. He might make mistakes and poor decisions and generally not be great, but you can see from his reaction after the win when he came down the tunnel that he was very happy with the result.

I see Baz is getting all the blame for the goal, but where the fuck were the defenders? It was a great pass, but three CBs were nowhere to be seen.
-
spot on. what the fuck were we doing? Just push up and compete. Horrible to watch the last 20 minutes.

Should fans ask fans what fans want? Can't they just say what they want as they are fans? With eleven of them, that seems like a decent number of potential different viewpoints.

Jan? Is Bednarek coming back too?

There was an article in the Athletic in April 2023 that said SR had invested £48m in 2022, with the issue of new shares that diluted Katrina's remaining 20% holding and then a further £15m of shares were issued in April 2023. Looking at the accounts for 2023, shares were also issued to the value of £4m in May 2023 and £18m in June 2023. I'm no accountant, but that £85m appears in the share premium account, which means its not available to supplement general day to day operating expenses. I think it could be used for capital projects, like a stadium expansion.

We have a reasonable idea. Just look at the club financial statements, all be it the financial year ending June 2025 doesn't come out until March 2026.

Steve Coppell (Reading) and Lee Clark (Huddersfield) had long unbeaten runs as managers. Coppell got Reading promoted with a record tally, while Clark got the sack - his run was spread over two season and too many draws saw them fail to challenge for promotion.

The one thing in Tonda's favour is that the side hasn't developed a specific style of play or tactic under Still that needs undoing. Five months after he took over, I don't think anyone knows what the plan was! Two days isn't going to be enough to implement significant changes, but perhaps he can at least encourage players to show the intensity needed at this level.

Quarshie isn't going replicate Paul Warhurst. It's fine for the last few minutes of a game, but he's technically one of weakest players we have in the squad, yet we will be asked to play, control, create and generally do things with far less time and space than he ever has at CB. It won't work. He'll win the odd header...and that's it. He needs to be playing at CB.

Personally, I like the idea of taking a pretty popular skate and turning him into a Saint...obviously so long as they oversee lots of wins.

whenever I see the "superstars" mentioned, it just makes me think of KK falling off his bike. Kind of sums our side up really - an accident waiting to happen. Shame we don't have a `messiah' like him to turn us around.
-
after witnessing some of the half hearted tackling on Saturday, this is great news. Boy does our back four need a shield in front of it and hopefully (legs permitting) he can still provide it. That little extra quality on the ball, won't go amiss either. We need a better weight of pass, midfielders playing on the half turn and at least a few attempts and playing it between the lines.

It really has. I know there are clubs much worse off than us. Teams in much lower leagues, teams that have fallen much further from grace, but what a grind.

I never understood the policy of not loaning players. In the championship, your chances of signing premiership level players that get you promoted AND can handle it when you do are small. Almost every side challenging for promotion over the last four or five years has loaned in players. Not doing that just puts you at a disadvantage.
-
Very good description of the players in yesterday's team.
-
There are too many players that don't want it enough. I could see a real lack of desire and fight. That's bad, but we also create fuck all. We have plenty of nice footballers, but the blend is terrible. Where is the physicality we began the summer talking about? Still has run out of time. This wasn't good enough.
