  1. I liked Omar Richards who was with Reading two years ago (and it's noticeable how they have dropped off without quality players like him) before joining Bayern Munich and then on to Forrest. Hasn't played all season for them due to injury. A decent left back would be a good start to our rebuild.
  2. poor man's Karol Poborsky...possibly signed on the back of one decent game at the World Cup.
  3. You say that, but if his wages are cut by 50% on relegation, for example, that decision would cost him about £2.5m a year. That's a lot of money to turn your back on, not to mention a signing on fee from the new club, a loyalty bonus paid by Saints and of course a place at the top table of football. If Bournemouth is the only Premiership option, and I am not suggesting it is, and his wages are to be cut (again, I am not suggesting they will be) he will likely take that option.
  4. After seeing what he could in his previous games, which was the square route of fuck all, maybe keeping him off the pitch is prudent.
  5. Not sure I care. If they pay us the most for him, then great. I'd like to see him go to Palace and solidify his friendship with Zaha. I wonder if Bournemouth might be an option.
  6. It could have been a game to create another legend like Micky Evans became up there in 1997, but it seems more likely that is will just reenforce the Davenport/Jacobsson/Quashie/Bernard comparisons. The law of averages says we could still win up there, but after stuffing Brighton in their last home game they will fancy their chances. Not sure I can face my forest supporting brother in law if we lose home and away. COYR. Help me save some face!
  7. It's worth noting that Selles was interviewed on Talksport this lunchtime, and no doubt the club's media team will have been involved in setting that up. I wonder then, if one or two other items were discussed (offline) during that process, that has subsequently led to these news reports coming out today? The Orsic item certainly reads like a club fed item to me, helping to drum up interest in him no doubt.
  8. could do a lot worse...and we have.
  9. 70+ year old managers is in vogue
  10. It feels like a sideways move to me. I find it hard to think of us as a side likely to get promoted. Maybe all the defeats has knocked the stuffing out of me. I also recall the nightmare last time around. We were relegation threatened at one point, before a late run under Burley.
  11. You seem to be glossing over the fact he has a three year contract at Boro and has done well for them, so Steve Gibson is not going to let him join us... unless we paid them huge compensation. is that realistic? I'd say Carrick is a non starter. We are not a great deal more attractive than Boro at this point.
  12. Is it realistic to think we can steal Carrick away from Boro? I'd of thought they'd want to keep him and he'd want to stay. If a prem side came in for him, maybe he'd depart, but another Championship side?
  13. I guess the Jones appointment was based on Luton punching above their weight, results wise. As we had a smaller budget than many in the Prem, perhaps they thought that was the kind of track record required? Maybe we need a manager that has managed to turn a sinking ship around. Not an easy task.
  14. Very nice run of games Leicester, Leeds, Saints, Everton, Wolves and West Ham. I'm sure Viera thought a decent points haul was a good possibility. Zaha only played the West Ham game though, in the four previous games he was injured. He came off at half-time on Leicester game (score was 0-0)
  15. we do need a few mavericks in the side.
  16. It's kind of shame we haven't got a manager in place (that we intend to go forward with) that can assess players over the next month. When Newcastle went down and got immediate promotion, Benitez took over in mid-March, so had some time to see what the squad is all about.
  17. he's fourth choice currently. Started two prem games. If he still has a year left on his contract, then he still has a year of Premiership wages. Unless Newcastle are going to pay some of that, he ain't coming here. If we are looking for a reboot, is signing a fourth choice Prem CB (albeit from a a club going for CL) the way to do it? Isn't he just more of what we already have?
  18. same guy that gave McCarthy and Djenepo new deals. Ralph.
  19. championship pitches aren't a great deal different from Prem pitches. And besides, no matter what the conditions, skill is still essential.
  20. The contract will probably have a sizeable relegated reduction in it, so becomes a lot less attractive to sign with our imminent relegation. He obviously thinks he can get more money elsewhere and as a free agent. Good luck to him. He's always done his best for us. Shame his best wasn't quite what we needed. It's a shame we don't have a few more players out of contract to help us trim the wage bill.
  21. thought KWP and Alcaraz were poor. KWP has had a shit season to be honest. No where near as good as previous years.
  22. I'm fed up of it now.
  23. Why is Sulemena not on this pitch?
  24. We look as bad as ever. We are trying really hard to pass it and create a space to drive into, but simply failing to achieve anything. There is just not penetration at all. Only Lavia seems able to create space. I thought Armstrong started brightly, but disappeared. Walcott and Ely have done nothing. Alcaraz has given the ball away far too much. It's not just the attackers. KWP has been poor. He used to glide down the line, but he seems hesitant. DCC looks slow. JWP has passed it backwards more than usual. We are chasing shadows without the ball. The forward players are running around like headless chickens, applying no pressure at all and tiring themselves out no doubt. Get Adams and Sulemana on FFS.
  25. the players are fucking useless too.
