  1. The opportunity in the cup certainly was IMO, but not the season as a whole.
  2. Why not wingers? A plan B needs something different to what we have. Either way we need players that can dribble and create to add to those we have.
  3. To be fair jay rod hasn't impressed when played down the middle on his own, although he hasn't ever had a long run there. The wide left position suits him I think, but we need a second option.
  4. Ramirez is our only plan B at present. Almost everyone is saying we need a striker and a CB, but for me another attacking midfielder and some wingers to back up Rodriguez and Lallana are needed to give us a little variety in attack.
  5. I'm not a bed wetter, in fact i agree that we played pretty well and have said as much on here already, but I think we should have played jos. He had a great game against west ham last season and is the right player to combat their style. Yoshida just does not win enough in the air for me.
  6. Yep, our premiership status is hanging by a thread...
  7. We played pretty well. We controlled the game, got between the lines and created lots of half chances and a couple of proper chances. I saw effort, quality on the ball and a decent pattern of play. The one thing we did a little too much was build up nicely then cross from too deep, which suited their big defenders. We need to get to the bye line a bit more often. Sometimes you lose games like this, that's life. We didn't create quite enough guilt edge chances. In the end aN offside goal and a **** up by Yoshida, that we'd never hear the end of it was Jos, killed us.
  8. Agree gaston has looked good, but we created.loads of chances which must be seen as a positive.
  9. Perhaps not the time or place but the question of attractive football vs results at all costs has never been more poignant. Perhaps the cup defeat has knocked the stuffing out of me a bit, so this doesn't hurt as much as it should, but I'd still take the odd defeat if it means watching our passing style.
  10. Another half chance. Losing is painful, but we've played much worse than this and won.
  11. Shame that it look like direct football will win the day again. Would be nice if Gallagher could notch.
  12. Take one of the three chances and it's 2-2. At least we are creating. The issue is our ability to defend a crossed ball today.
  13. I am not sure we are over stocked with attacking midfielder options. A goal every three games for a midfielder is good going.
  14. Seven figure?
  15. Section 106 sounds like a bribe from a property developer to a council to ensure a development goes ahead. With struggling for cash councils everywhere that sounds like an open invitation.
  16. Clyne to Arsenal Chambers to Arsenal Wanyama to Man City Jack Cork to Swansea
  17. can you explain that for the hard of understanding? "This deal is good for the club because the developer and club President Stuart Robinson will give us land to the north of the stadium and also a strip behind the Fratton End as well as a substantial cash injection that is totally ring-fenced by Portsmouth City Council to be used only for improvements to Fratton Park." Are PCC ring-fencing the cash or actually giving the cash injection? I thought I'd better check, because if he bothered with some actual punctuation in this sentence, that would change the meaning dramatically.
  18. 17 games if Spurs make the final this season, 19 if Swansea do it.
  19. Just as well only 21% of their transfer rumours turn into transfers otherwise we will struggle to field a side next season.
  20. Goalkeepers - Hart, Foster, Forster Defenders - Cahill, Baines, Jagielka, Walker, Lescott, Shawcross, Shaw, Clyne Central Midfielders - Gerrard, Barkley, Wiltshire, Carrick Widemen - Townsend, Lallana, Wellbeck, Sterling Strikers - Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert We are so devoid of any quality at centre back. I'd be tempted to play Carrick or even Gerrard there.
  21. did you bite your tongue on both occasions? I have visions of myself snapping after a long hard day/week in that position.
  22. you sold your apple shares as a result of a conversation you had with somebody in that bar?
  23. did we really spend our `do whatever you want with away bonus' on painting the away end? Learjetting a few luck winners to Newcastle or Sunderland was such a better idea.
  24. The crowds at FA cup games are derided, but I wonder what attendances would be like at league games if season tickets didn't exist (as they don't for cup games) and every game had to be sold in a single ticket basis?
