  1. Badly. The idea that Shaw and Morgan can be replaced by target and reed next season is the quickest route to the championship. We are talking about two of the bets performing players in the league last season. We need to be bringing in some top notch replacements otherwise we will struggle IMO.
  2. oi, enough of that winning stuff, let's get back to the two year period of self punishment including watching Jordan Robertson and Jake Thompson drowning in waters way beyond their depth.
  3. Another Brum player I suggested years ago we steal when they would have taken peanuts for him. That said he seemed to struggle to keep his place in the Norwich starting 11 last season. subbed a fair bit too. Maybe he flatters to deceive?
  4. I can't recall that home game. I think Lee Johnson scored, did we lose? Probably. I certainly recall the game at their place. One of the most abject displays from a Saints team I have ever seen. Right up there with the Bristol Rovers game. They ran rings round us and only Davis' performance kept it respectable. Despite raving about him since his first touch in a Saints shirt, I recall having serious doubts about Morgan that day. He simply would not or could tackle. He, like many Saints player was embarrassing. Mind you I'm not sure why we played him at right midfield that day.
  5. That was the game we played Lallana in the hole and he was absolutely amazing. For some reason we never really played him there again up until last season of course. Was Preston the 2 nil down come back to win 2-3? Can't remember us ever doing that before or after.
  6. I recall describing him (Pulis) as a terrible signing at the time and being lambasted on here for doing so, "got to give him a chance to show what he could do before slating him". Still waiting...
  7. you've contacts at both Spurs and Arsenal or did you Spurs contact tell you that Arsenal had won the day? IMO he is the perfect player for Arsenal. Exactly what they have been missing.
  8. Might be best to wait and see before suggesting he was easy to replace. Regarding Morgan, he will be very hard to replace. It goes without saying his touch and range of passing is tremendous. I know the word `pace' is a no no on here, but Morgan has unbelievable pace. I doubt their is a quicker CM in the league. Pace isn't perhaps the first facet you'd look for in that position, but a good passer with pace is better than a good passer without it. He covers so much ground quickly and when teams break he can actually have a massive impact in breaking them up. I don't see Prowse or Reed being able to do that. Prowse is the slowest player I have seen for some time in fact.
  9. With Lallana no longer taking up the space in the hole (and to a degree Lambert too) you'd think that Ramirez would be the natural replacement (from the clips I have seen Tadic seems to play wide left), but I get the feeling he prefers to drop deep than to work between opponents defence and midfield. I'm not sure any Saints manager is going to trust him to play that deep (not to mention having Morgan, Cork and Wanyama there already) as he can be a little careless with some of his passing and at times risks getting caught in possession in dangerous areas. He's wasted out wide, so he really needs to grab that 10 role by the horns. Perhaps Lambert leaving will leave a little more space to play in. A new number 9 playing on the shoulder rather than dropping deep, as Lambert did so often, might help him. I suspect if a decent offer comes in he will want a move, as he will want to be playing more regularly, but if that doesn't materialise it could actually all turn out great. Or not of course.
  10. Sharing the Sheffield United game with 13256 of you was a particular low point, but the 1-4 defeat at home against Palace the season before on the opening day of the season showed exactly how much quality had been taken out of the side and the struggle that was bound to take place. The 0-2 defeat against Forrest with that screamer from joe Garner hurt like hell (brother in law a mad Forrest fan). Funnily enough although we won, getting taken apart by Bury in the cup at home showed us up,as a terrible side. Just too many defeats to choose from. The away massacres at Hull and Sheff Wed were bad, but the home defeats always hurt more for some reason. As for players, bloody hell I'm so,glad I never have to watch Chris Perry at CB ever again, or Bennett or Lancashire or Thomas or Makin or Pearce or Daily or Cork or ****ign Powell.
  11. I really enjoy singing the `Liebherr wonderland' song and hope it continues for as long as I'm going to games.
  12. the shuffle across at some point would seem to make sense. He has height, enough pace and composure on the ball, but does he have the strength and positional sense right now? Possibly.
  13. Forget Sandro, if the unthinkable happens and Morgan goes to Spurs can we swap him for Dembele? He's a beast of a player.
  14. Just losing Shaw would have been a serious problem. Lallana, Morgan and Lovren as well. Blimey. Koeman's agent hasn't done his research.
  15. Bed wetting isn't my style, but if Morgan joins Lovren then I don't think it matters who or when we sign them we will be up against it right from the off. Anyone that thinks 5 first team players are going to be signed that are immediately as good as those going out are kidding themselves. Whatever happens this summer the first team will be weaker, probably a lot weaker, and it will take time for those new players to settle, maybe even as long as a season, which is time we don't have. I genuinely think we are amongst the favourites for relegation. And to think I was worried about how Osvaldo would hang around all summer draining resources.
  16. Still time for it to get worse. Lovren is pretty much gone, what about Morgan? Pessimists dream of a summer so far.
  17. The lack of ambition, the selling of our best players, happened before he starting moaning about not selling him. If we hadn't sold Shaw and Lallana then that would have signalled we meant business about breaking the top 6. The club had a choice, it could have given these players unbelievable money to tempt them to stay, otherwise it was pretty much inevitable that the talent would leave. You club has chosen a different path, perhaps a more sustainable one, but with so much talent leaving the risk now is that we go down.
  18. How on earth are we going to replicate what we did last season, but without the momentum and half a dozen of our very best players? How? It's good to think positively, but I just don't understand why fans think the new recruits will be able to come in and instantly be top performers like Shaw and Lallana.
  19. Although I'm not terribly fussed by who makes the shirts and who sponsors us, so long as it's not some loan shark, you do have to wonder how much revenue has been brought in. Completely different market I know, but United are about to get £600m over ten years from nike or Adidas or Warrior. One things for sure we won't be getting income from the shirt manufacturer, who in all intents and purposes are another sponsor. We are effectively a sponsor light. Maybe that money could have replaced the hike in season ticket prices? Veho are a decent company with southampton fans at the helm by the way. Good firm to promote in my eyes.
  20. Not like them to be generous. If Morgan and Lovren leave there is not a chance of that IMO. The players coming in will need time to settle no matter how good they are. They won't be better than Shaw, Morgan and Lovren anyway.
  21. Why? What difference does it really make. We are going to be worse than last year, not better, so if he was hoping to challenge for Europe then moving is the only way to do that. Can't blame him for wanting out.
  22. Like your style but you are living in a dreamworld.
  23. At this point in time I can't see anything other than a struggle, but we will have to see what happens with Lovren and Morgan and how quickly the new recruits settle in . Just taking Shaw out of the side would have effected us big style in my opinion never mind the others! and in such a closely fought league the slightest drop off our best can turn draws into defeats etc. if we do go down it's just as well the club haven't tried to bleed every last penny out of the fans over the last few years seeing long term season ticket holders fall away, because the club might need that support should some tough times follow this great period. Oh.
  24. Also disappointed to see Cresswell go to West Ham. I've not seen him play myself, but but pretty much every man and his dog was aware he was Ipswich's best player over the last two seasons. Caulker connections with twitcher will go a long way. Is he really any good though? The way Spurs discarded him suggests he had/has a lot of weaknesses in his game. He looked pretty good at St Marys, but no where near in John Stones' class.
