Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

in the run in games Ince seemed to be the real threat, but for large parts of the season Phillips was the stand out player. I wonder what Paul's advice would be to his son should we make a bid? -

what a player. I'd be interest to see him live now to see how he gets round the pitch, but on the ball he seems to get better with age. -
I'd like to see one of the local radio stations doing a daily drive home show if that is financially possible. Obviously not otherwise they'd be doing it already. The skates used to have a show on The Quay starting at 6pm that was pretty interesting. They had player and staff interviews, guests and a range of stuff that Chris Wise and fellow skates would natter over. You'd get the usual nutters calling in, some betting stuff etc. The Quay went into admin, so that's not a good sign, but the format worked well IMO.

Blackburn fans show the skates how to get a fans buyout on the road. One meeting and £2m in the kitty, possibly: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-18221382

not sure what type of dollar you are talking about, but it was widely reported that Arsenal offered him £55k a week. He had a tantrum and despite signing a one year extension he ****ed off to Chelsea the following season = they initially paid him £90k a week. I Imagine he's on a damn sight more than that now having signed a new deal in 2009. When Kalou was linked with Arsenal last summer it was reported that he wanted £90k a week.I don't imagine that was a cut in wages. -
actually he played 24 games for Cheltenham keeping 12 clean sheets and impressing all and sundry. He's played at every age level for England including 5 games for the under 21s. No one bat an eyelid when Frankie Fielding got an England call up and he is woeful. My brum fanatic friend says this lad is top notch. I've been telling you that all season. I don't want Davis anywhere near and England shirt no matter how well he did last season. Harte is the present and the likes of Butland are the future. Davis is neither.
-
same here. Block 35 for me probably. although trying to convince two lads to move back to Itchen where we were before they started ****ing around.
-
you've got to be kidding? I mentioned him last summer and have continually suggested him throughout the year, along with Davis, Much and Redmond (not for the keeper position, obviously).

I'm not saying the two Chelsea lads wouldn't improve us, but the big clubs do contain **** players in their side every now and then. Koncheskey was at Liverpool two minutes ago and he wouldn't get in my 5 a side team. -
Transfer policy - what kind of transfers can we expect?
Chez replied to ToreSF's topic in The Saints
was that wage policy not in place when we finished 8th in the league and got to cup final? Unlike other clubs, Lowe and SFC could only spend what came in as we were a PLC and couldn't continue to trade at a loss. -
all is true but aren't football contracts covered by the FA or PFA? So once you get a contract signed you know you will paid at some point by someone. That has to be better than no club at all. Edit: I see that was answered before. They won't have a problem finding players.
-
Leeds will pay someone to take him off their hands...and might need to, or at least a percentage of his wages.
-
lots of players without clubs.

low fees and high wages seems to have been the order of the day up till now. Worked to date. -

didn't want to move house, big club, stick two fingers up at United, more money, better, bigger club that is going places... -
sure they are not selling turf to help make ends meet?

Now we the ups/downs are sorted, you predictions for next season

Hard to spot three sides to be relegated below us. Will hoof ball work in the Prem? If not West Ham will be bottom. -
personally I thought he was partially at fault for the second but not the first. Not sure a minor error makes him a bad keeper anyway.

I suggested Curtis Davis last summer and still think he can make the grade in the Prem. Not sure he will get the England cap I suggested he would when he was at Luton, but he would improve the squad. -

because we need to aim higher or you just don't rate the guy? -
Very interesting theory. I wonder then if it was the side he put out against Bolton in the league cup that did him - too strong? K Davis, D Harding , D Butterfield (J Mills, 82), J Fonte, A Martin, D Hammond, J Puncheon, A Lallana , M Schneiderlin (A Oxlade-Chamberlain, 75), R Lambert (D Connolly, 78), L Barnard

I simply do not understand why anyone on here is deriding the efforts of the Trust. Total respect to them for trying. I didn't see you or anyone else putting a plan together to save us three years ago. I also understand fully why genuine Pompey fans aren't pledging. They don't have a clue what they are signing up for. Other sticks to beat them with IMO.

not a chance of the council giving the club a cheque. Never gonna happen.
