  1. with Pardew's talk of the need for a CB this puts any links to Fonte to bed.
  2. has anyone got one of the travel vouchers? What do they give you? Are they worthwhile at the £4.50 they cost if you book using the online system which charges a rediculous £3 booking fee.
  3. we could perhaps loan Beckford. No one is going to buy him and pay those wages, so Leicester are effectively stuck with him and I'm sure they'd be happy to lose his wages (or a large part of them) for a while - although maybe not to a promotion rival.
  4. could be worse, one of the 5 live listeners emailed in that his mum had bought him a Derby shirt. He was a Forest fan. Her excuse was that the shops were really busy and she had got confused.
  5. the whole day at Plymouth will live with me for the rest of my life and low and behold it has just got better and better since then.
  6. January transfers of the three promoted clubs. Luke Moore commanded the highest fee of £850,000 QPR Petter Vaagen Moen Dan ****tu Pascal Chimbonda Norwich Leon Barnett Aaron Wilbraham Marc Tierney Swansea Luke Moore Ryan Harley Leon Britton and just for good measure... Cardiff Jon Parkin Dekel Keinan
  7. Konchesky must be the most over paid paid player in the history of the game. He wouldn't get in my 5 a side team.
  8. he wouldn't need to move house.
  9. but if he arrived on Jan 1st I presume you'd be happy.
  10. perfect opportunity for the likes of Harding, Butterfield, Martin and Connelly to keep their eye in. De Ridder needs games and maybe even Lallana too. Hammond/Cork/Morgan can't all play so you have most of the side right there. If we give Holmes and Bart a game, that might be a step too far if we are taking the cup seriously.
  11. becoming a regular thing, this last minute, no chance to buy after home games thing.
  12. you're kidding, right? He had a great game and was never beaten or exposed. As for their left side it was terrible. Parr and Ramage are as bad a pair as I've seen all season. Pace, what pace? Oh, I see, you meant he struggled to beat the left back. Well first and foremost he is a fullback not a winger, so not beating his opponent for pace is hardly a crime, but I thought whenever he ventured forward he caused all kinds of problems and often had the beating of him. What a season he is having.
  13. I don't recall any telling passes yesterday either, nor it being all that exciting or creative, but its not creativity that is Morgan's forte, its running a game, grabbing second ball and dictating the play. In both games he was absolutely everywhere and no one could touch him. Strength, pace and a tremendous ability to just coast away from problems effortlessly. Morgan is just one of those players that I love to watch. He makes the game look easy. I get the feeling that his skills are taken fir granted or that those that haven't played the game don't see what he does. His first touch is Premiership level. I've been saying that for three years. He's since added strength, pace and grit to his game. In the Franchise game he showed the lot. I think most were too busy applauding Ricky for his hatrick.
  14. I was tempted to mention that game too. The guy is top quality and I simply do not understand those fan that don't see what he offers. The guy would look at home in the Premiership.
  15. right time and place seems to be his main attribute, with some decent finishing. He doesn't have any great pace, but he's er, sharp. If we create chances he'll take them, but will he help us create more chances?
  16. he was great, but he plays like that (in centre midfield) pretty much all the time IMO. He's had better games too. Milton Keynes away (Lambert hatrick game) is the best I've ever seen him play.
  17. `I'm not writing him off, but he is not a quality CB.' er yes you are writing him off. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?32340-Jos-Hooiveld-signs-on-loan&highlight=Hooiveld
  18. has Morgan signed a new contract yet?
  19. I agree with all of this and would add that Chaplows driving runs drain opponents' fitness opening up space later on in games.
  20. actually he has 12 goals and only 7 are in the league.
  21. DJ Cambell. Proven in the Premiership. Pace and finishing. QPR looking to spend might mean he surplus to requirements. As Delldays say availability is the most important thing, but Matt Phillips would kill two birds with one stone as he could play up front or out wide. Charlie Austin has impressed me whenever I've seen him. Not liked as a person, but he has ability and in our side would score goals.
  22. Good point, if they are the only two strikers available then so be it, but the championship is full of sides talking a good game but most in desperate financial strife, so £3m might twist a lot of chairman's arms. What makes you sure, by the way? Neither looked all that in the recent games against us.
  23. you did see Parr (No 4) and Ramage (38) didn't you? In case you didn't, they were terrible, terrible players on the day.
  24. would you get Matt Phillips for £3m? How about DJ Cambell or Charlie Austin?
  25. lots of very young children and pensioners on their annual game with the family makes boxing day crowds invariably ****. All Saints are welcome by me, but the extra fans doesn't generate extra atmosphere.
