  1. you been watching too much Black Hawk Down, its Pompey not Somalia we're talking about.
  2. does
  3. my advice is to get the ferry over, once landed immediately join the queue to come straight back. If you are lucky there will be room on the same boat. HTH
  4. I'd agree with that. Never ever been so cold at a game in my life. They took us to pieces on a pitch that was frozen solid. I notice the first match report says temperature dipped below freezing hence the pitch passed an inspection. Absolutely no idea how. That pitch would never pass a current inspection. Total ice rink.
  5. are you mental? We are going to take these ****s to pieces at **** park and I for one won't be missing that wonderful experience even if I have to go by bus.
  6. and pay for ****ing parking!
  7. oh, and the O'Neil sale was over 4 years ago
  8. did very well with Notts County. Bound to have caught the eye of their near neighbours.
  9. I'm not sure I agree with that. Ten games is not enough to really determine how the season is going to go. We've hardly played any of the better sides yet. Only when we have will we really know how good we are and be able to set realistic targets. I therefore would suggest that the next four games will go a long way to seeing how good we really are, but failing to make the top six won't represent a **** up, it will just show that we had a good start but found our level. Hopefully we'll win all four and then you really can start talking about potential **** ups if we don't make the top six.
  10. yeah, because bankers just love paying over the odds for things. Stop moaning about a perceived lack of ambition/transfer activity this summer. Over ambitious spending was what got us in the **** in the first place.

they seem to have a penchant for skate companies these days with the Bettingroom and Bishops printers the most recent additions to their supplier list. Are there no decent Southampton outfits?
  13. the previous year they had three owners worth a combined £17bn, one sold his shares to one of the others, so now they have two owners worth a combined £11.8bn.
  14. David Bust leg break at Old Trafford was bad
  15. goal celebration music is a no for me. Hate it with a passion. No need whatsoever for it as we make a massive noise at SMS whenever we score.
  16. Ben Heim's wage was in the administrators report at 36k a week and the recent court case reiterated that fact http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2002635/Tal-Ben-Haim-sue-Portsmouth-1-4m-unpaid-wages.html Norris was reported (by Sky http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/15151887) to be on £12k a week at Ipswich. He won't have left them for less money that's for sure.
  17. cup for me. The game is all about trophies in the end and we could do with one or two more.
  18. you could be right, my memory is not so good after a big old night out, but I don't recall him dominating the game or being involved too much if at all in the first half. Note also that 6 is `played well' as its a scale out of 10, with 5 being average not poor.
  19. unusually, away fans were not placed in the chedda, instead put in the top left of the John Charles stand.
  20. tremendous day, just could not stop smiling, well after the first ten minutes anyway. Bouncing back after a defeat is a very good sign. Not sure there is anything to moan about, a few two many hollywood passes from Fox maybe and a poor start where we hit a lot of long balls that were all won my Taylor, but that's it for me. Bloody great. Such a shame there is a international break. Davis 9 as always we have to talk about distribution and it was fine, just two poor kicks all day and he didn't put anyone under any pressure. Some good saves and one absolutely world class save when they looked certain to score Fox 7 too many eye of the needle long balls when I'd prefer more short stuff to Lallana. Good game overall, apart from a poor decision deep in the second half when he should have cleared his lines but overplayed and we were lucky not to concede because of it Fonte 8 grew as the game went on and seemed to actually improve when given a tougher test by Iwelumo Jos 9 didn't put a foot wrong that I can recall. He's a steady eddy. Richardson 9 another very good display, strong, progressive and also some very good positional play Cork 8 everything you would expect, busy, strong and dominant Hammond 8 equally good. The rest was a good move I think despite the defeat Lallana 6 pretty quiet - Fox does not pass to him enough - but still decent when in possession. Very unlucky not to score de Ridder 9 quick, lots of movement and hard running off the ball. A threat on it. Fine display and very encouraging for the future. Lambert 8 disappointing that he couldn't beat Taylor in the air at all early on, but he did what he does best, find space, shuffle over to the fullback and win everything there instead. He's another penalty king after le Tiss, BT and Crouch before him. Made me think back to the McGoldrick/Wotton pen debarcle of a few seasons back. Guly 8 decent display. Not sure about playing them together, they don't link well to be honest, but he does a good job when we are dominating and offers something slightly different to Connelly. Chaplow 8 first class when he came on Holmes nice slightly deflected goal which is well deserved for all his hard work getting back to full fitness Morgan we are just not weakened with our subs
  21. I agreed with your pre season prediction, not sure I still feel that's where we will end, hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me as this league is bloody tough and wins and losses are produced by very small margins so this wonderful start could quite easily be undone if those margins don't go our way. As I said I hope not. Just because you predict 17th it doesn't mean you don't hope we finish top by the way.
  22. before I start can I just say that I wanted him here before he came and still want him here (or course) and I believe that actions speak far louder than words. I just want to get that in before someone thinks I am having a pop. But having said all that, is it just me then that feels he just tries to say the right thing all the time rather than what he really feels (ignoring the quick-fire 20 questions thing at the end of course). I guess that method of answering questions works on a grand team motivational scale, so who am I to complain (and I'm not complaining), but I just feel that when he is interviewed he has these preconfigured answers and they tend to be lines from a motivation for dummies handbook. I really dislike all this on the bus, in the building stuff, actually his interviews in general, no matter what happens he just tries to put a positive slant on things (as if that's a crime I know), but maybe he's just too positive for me - someone that's a self confessed bit of a moaner and realist/pessimist. Keep up the good work Nigel and if you don't mind I'll ignore your interviews till you relax and start speaking your mind rather than what you think the players need to hear.
  23. what's all this `sussed out' ********? Were we sussed out at Leicester? No, we were just beaten. Losing games doesn't mean your tactics were neccessarily wrong. Poor application, hard luck...there's lots of reasons for losing. Actually when I think about it Millwall `sussed us out' more than most, but we still won that game. Can you say the tactics were right that day because we won or did we just finish well?
  24. the fact Harding signed an extended deal after the Fox signing shows to me that Adkins has left the door wide open for him to claim the shirt if he plays well and Fox won't be an automatic choice.
  25. he is not quicker, stronger or better positionally or in the air than Harding, so defensively he doesn't improve us. I've only seen Harding beaten once or twice in two seasons, but he started the season slightly below par for me. Fox looks classier and he should help us to pass it out short from the back and when in attacking areas offer the quality we need to unlock defences with great crosses. I'm yet to be convinced by Fox, but happy to give him another 4 or 5 games before thinking about dropping him for Harding.
